when will these idiots realize that we are not ending the rallys. The city is just trying to tame them which is badly needed.

It dont seem that way to me I am a local biker and I have stated many times that I personally do not have a problem with equal and fair enforcement of the laws already on the books. But that so called city attorney his so called proposals has stepped way far over the line constitionally as far as I am concerned. An untrained lay person like myself not trained in juris prudence can even see that. Others like my self that are law abiding citizens of the good old USA will not tolorate their gestapo type tactics. I will be first to agree with anyone some changes need to be made as far as behavior and obedience of the law is concerned for BOTH groups but the {sic} almighty city of Myrtle Beach cannot rewrite or circumnavigate constituonal and state law SHOVELHEAD GCB SC

It seems to me that Mayor Rhodes NEEDS to go.
If I remember correctly when he was running for office he was FOR the bikers.

So you have some residents who are bitchin about the rallies, you also have residents who enjoy the rallies. Have you ever drove by the campgrounds on 17 business? There are many many residents who park and watch the parade of bikes go by. They bring lawn chairs, golf carts, they bring a picnic and family members, hell they even wave to us.

Don't tell me that ALL residents want to get rid of the rallies.

I pay taxes and I vote and believe me many of city council WILL NOT be re-elected. And when Mayor Rhodes is up -he'll be done. A one term Mayor- I'd gladly work with former Mayor mcbride at least he does not lie.

We as local bike riders will be here in October and May and we have many many friends who come from other states for the May rally and believe me they'll be back each year!

Mayor Rhodes needs to GO......

The Mayor and Council aren't morons. If there wasn't OVERWHELMING local support to place a leash on these rallies then the current proposals wouldn't have seen the light of day.

And...to make it very clear. When I say "local support" I am referring to those registered voters in the city limits. NOT Biker bar owners, NOT Chamber of Commerce fence sitters, and NOT out of state/area spoiled brats who think they have a constitutional right to tear up the town 1 month a year.

This mayor hosts a bunch of basketball thugs in this city every year at taxpayer expense. Two years ago, he pulled strings, and appeared as a character witness, for one of these gangbangers who discharged a loaded weapon in Myrtle Beach High School. Fortunately, he shot himself in the leg instead of killing a fellow student in the classroom at the time.

Like his MBHS friend, our mayor appears to have shot himself in the foot on the Motorcycle Rally issue. I'm not sure who is pulling his strings, but they've obviously got him on a short leash. He has no interest in compromise, has torn this community apart, and has made us a state, and soon to be, national, laughing stock. A resort community that is going to put up roadblocks to end some of our most profitable weeks of the year?? This guy has got to GO!!

I am on the record as against the rallies. However, I thought this was a democracy! Does the Mayor have inside information that he and council have not shared that would influence / impact having the rallies? Does he want to go down in history as the mayor who ended the rallies? Or does his paycheck come from a different "payroll"?

Actually how many of the registered voters in the city limits have you spoken with to make the statement "If there wasn't OVERWHELMING local support to place a leash on these rallies then the current proposals wouldn't have seen the light of day."?

Real numbers would be great.

Of course he has inside information. This whole thing was set up well before the first city council meeting on it. They had already decided on the tax increase (with no debate), and had the local media support coordinated. Who, exactly, is pulling the strings is still not known, but I'm sure most of us could make a pretty accurate guess. Don't think, for a second, that the mayor cares about a few NIMBYs complaining about not being able to sleep for a few nights in May. We've heard those complaints for decades, and most of those neurotics can't sleep the rest of the year either. There is some BIG money behind the mayor and council on this. The End the MAYhem folks are just pawns in the game.

These are local politicians-many long entrenched in their jobs.

You can be sure they "know which the wind is blowing" among their constituents before committing to this course of action.

My anecdotal conversations with neighbors doesn't compare to the feedback these officials have received.

I HOPE THE LOCAL POLICE DO PUT UP ROAD (CHECK) BLOCKS AND HAVE DRUG DOGS OUT! THE LOCALS ARE B**CHING ABOUT TRAFFIC IN THERE NEIGHBORHOOD NOW. WAIT UNTIL THE ROAD BLOCKS ARE UP BIKERS, TRUCKS, LOCAL TRAFFIC WILL CUT THROUGH JUST LIKE THEY ARE DOING NOW. BUT, EVEN MORE. AND THE DRUG DOGS. WILL CHECK GRANNY'S CAR TOO. OH, GRANNY YOU NEED TO BE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR MEDS IN THE BOTTLE WITH YOUR NAME ON IT FROM THE DRUG STORE. AND NOT MIX OR WRAP UP IN YOUR POCKETBOOK OR POCKET. IF THE DRUG DOG SMELLS IT AND YOU CAN NOT PROVE IT IS YOURS ON THE SPOT. YOU WILL GO TO JAIL WITH THE LOCAL DRUGIES.
HELMET LAW: SC. DOES NOT HAVE A HELMET LAW UNLESS YOU ARE UNDER 21. MOST STATES MAKE EVERYONE WEAR ONE.. SO WHEN THEY COME TO SC. THEY DO NOT WEAR A HELMET. SAYING THAT YOU ARE ONLY MAKING THE BIKERS IN SC. WEAR ONE . BECAUSE THE BIKERS FROM OTHER STATES ALREADY ARE USED TO IT. SC. WILL HAVE A HELMET LAW I AM SURE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEAR.
VENDER PERMITS: ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS BLUE CRAB
VOTE TO HAVE YOUR TAXES RAISED AND NOT GETTING THE BIKERS OUT.
I DO NOT THINK THAT THIS PLAN HAS BEN THOUGHT OF VERY WELL.
SEE YOU IN OCT.

Substitue "kickbacks" for "feedback" in the last sentence, and I would agree.

Actually this guy is talking out of his arse...

I have been reading various biker sites/blogs/message boards and the consensus seems to " screw Myrtle Beach-I will will go where I am wanted-I dont need the hassle"

So it seems that the anti rally efforts are already producing the desired results. This poster is representative of a small group of babies that can't handle being told no.

Pay him no mind.....

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Leo

It's hard to pin down a certain person today because they're being so vague and dithery. Ask them a question and they'll vacillate or be unable to give you a straight answer. You might suspect them of deceitful goings on but it's far more likely that they're simply in a world of their own and can't keep their mind on anything for long. Don't worry, they'll soon be back on planet earth.
