In the past I have turned to Flash Point before casting ballots. I enjoyed hearing what I thought was both sides of issues and debates. I relied on Mike Turpin to be my voice of reason. This Sunday's broadcast on November 15, 2009 was my first disappointment. I wanted to hear both sides of the latest MAPS 3 issue. Maybe I missed something but I didn't hear any real debate. I heard Mick Cornett make comments about police and firefighters wanting more money for themselves. I missed the part about the city council having approved Tax Increment Financing (TIF) projected to raise $115 million for Devon Energy's front yard project. In addition to these funds is the vote on December 8th which is estimated to cost the average Oklahoma City resident $10.00 a month. I would encourage you to pick up a copy of the November 10th issue of The Oklahoma Observer on page 6 and read the article "As Rich Get Richer, The Rest Get Stuck" written by Wanda Jo Stapleton. This article from Frosty Troy's Oklahoma Observer has provided me with the facts I need to cast an informed vote on December 8th.
