My dogs were boarded at Clip & Snip & Country Kennels Murrieta from Sat July 22 to Sun. July 30th and now one has kennel cough. When I called in to inform them, they responded, "Yep, it's been going around". I said that I wouldn't have used them if they had told me and asked them to compensate me for my $116 medication bill, which would still leave them making a profit off my $374 bill, but they weren't willing to do anything. I just feel that they should warn people dropping off their dogs if they've already had a bunch of owners call in and say that their dogs are coming home with kennel cough. They wanted to make a buck more than they wanted to keep my pets healthy, so I will not use them again. My decision is based on their initial actions and also because of their unwillingness to even attempt to rectify the situation.

I have left my 3 dogs and 2 cats there on several different ocassions for a length of stay as great as 3 weeks. We were more than happy with the service, attention and care for our pets.

I work at Country Kennel's and i can say that i would leave my own animal there and have the comfort of knowing that it is being taken care of. I can also say that most of the staff here can remember the name of almost all of the pets that walk into our doors. Your pets are just as important to us as our own pet are, we love to see that there are so many pets and owners out there that come in time and time again and some even say that there pets get exited just coming around the bend because they know that they are going to to go have fun at the kennel.

Can you tell me if a Labrador gets attention, all day. She is trained, but gets bored if left alone. Please let me know if you would leave your 14month old happy lab there for a day. thanks, carolyn

I would not leave a pup for long stays but a day or 2 for a young pup wouldn't hurt, you might try our new "group play" if your pup is a fun loving pup. It is $5.00 and it is 30 mins of supervised fun for your pup and 3 or 4 other dogs.

I leave all of our show dogs when we are travelling on business - the dogs Wellington & Dior (Welly is #5 Springer in the Country) come back washed and groomed to purrfection - They love it there and we love taking them there - all of the staff there are fabulous and would not dream of going elsewhere !

We used them for our trip to Brazil and we were gone for 10 days..boarded my pomeranian and my rottweiler, and the Pomeranina had a horrible rash on his butt when i picked them up. it was obvious that at some point early on in the boarding stay, he had gone #2, some of it stuck to his tush and noone even noticed it and it stayed there and he was probably dragging his little tush all around trying to get it off
I was FURIOUS!!! The girl just casually handed me a tube of some ointment and said you might want to use this on his rear quarters and I looked to see this horrible red irritated area.
I mean come on...if you don't have enough people to properly watch and supervise the dogs and make sure they are clean and well taken care of, the n don't be so greedy by accepting too many dogs in your facilty.
I have had other friends with very negative comments about noit only the care from this kennel, but also the attitude of the owner (if that's what she was or the manager)
never again!

I have used Country Kennels several times over the years and have always been very happy with them. I dare anyone to find a cleaner, quieter place to board their dog. I won't even board them at my vet's office, because I'm sure they would get even LESS attention! Country Kennels is the only place that my dogs feel comfortable away from home. They don't go on "hunger strikes" refusing to eat when they're there. That's how I know they're comfortable... If you're afraid of Kennel Cough (which they can pick up ANYWHERE), then you should get your dogs vaccinated against this, along with their regular, yearly vaccines at the vet's office. That's called, "being a responsible pet owner". If you're worried about poopies getting stuck on your dog's butt, then have the groomer shave around that little area, before you take them to be boarded. That's also called, "being a responsible pet owner". I make sure of these two things when I take my long-haired dogs to be boarded. I don't expect ANYONE to run around with a roll of toilet paper, checking my dog's fanny. I'm sure they have better things to do with their time.

I am sure that on October 21st the kennel received dozens of dogs due to people being evacuated from surrounding areas. I'm sure they were crowded with extra dogs. I can't say for sure about this kennel but I do know MANY others that did not charge a single dollar for boarding dogs and other animals that were evacuated. Please don't be too quick to judge. We were evacuated for a week and found the businesses in Temecula/Murrieta were gracious and generous. sunkist wrote: We used them for our trip to Brazil and we were gone for 10 days..boarded my pomeranian and my rottweiler, and the Pomeranina had a horrible rash on his butt when i picked them up. it was obvious that at some point early on in the boarding stay, he had gone #2, some of it stuck to his tush and noone even noticed it and it stayed there and he was probably dragging his little tush all around trying to get it off I was FURIOUS!!! HI AManda...this was October of 2001...so not during the fires or anything...I;m glad you had a better experience with them!
to Kim: I'm quite a responsible pet woner, which is why I would never use this place again. They were charged with not only looking after my dog but grooming him as well. If they felt his hair was too long and that they couldn't take the time to even look to make sure he did not have an irritation, then they should have groomed him that very first day.
This was the solitary incident in which I have had my dog come back injured from a boarding facility and we travel usually twice per year...

I have used Clip and Snip Kennels for yrs. and have been extremely satisfied. I was recently on a vac. when my dog CeCe became ill. I was notified immediately (even though I was out of state) and the staff tranported my dog to the vets. and kept me informed continously. The staff was excellent and provided my other dog attention to help him go thru this ordeal until my return. I am extremly fussy/particular abt. my dogs and I have never been disappointed with their care.

I am a former employee (I was not fired) and would NEVER board my pets at Clip and Snip kennels. The facility is kept very clean and can not be faulted in that respect. However, there are many other faults. The owner is purely in the business for the money. When the kennel was overbooked, dogs from different families were placed together. Small dogs were sometimes not even given a run, but given grooming cages for their stay. When exercise time came, yard time was cut down to 5 minutes with strange dogs sharing yard with each other. There was one particular incident that simply horrified me. A senior employee placed a pit-bull, which was known to be aggressive and on Prozac, in the same yard as a Bichon Fries. The Pit-Bull did in fact attack, and the Bichon sustain serious injuries. The owner did immediately take the Bichon to the vet. However, when the kennel owner informed the dog owner what had happen she told them that the kennel was not at fault because the Pit had jumped the fence and things like that just happen at kennels. The kennel owner then went on to say she was going to cover the medical bills out of the goodness of her heart. The Pit’s owner was never informed of the incident at all. The bottom line is this: the owner is a “farm girl” and she views animals as animals and not family with enough care given so when will not be held liable.

Does anyone else have a recent experience to report about regarding their dogs stay at Clip and Snip? I have never boarded my two dogs (Lab and Yorkie)before and am so skittish about it, especially after reading about the bad experiences some have had. Maybe "things" have gotten better there now (?).

We have used Clip and Snip on numerous occasions for our Golden and Lab/Whippet mix. We have had nothing but god experiences with them. The dogs are always excited to go. I have no qualms recommending them to others.

I have been using Country Kennel for my golden retriever and have had a wonderful experience. Not only were we evacuated for 6 days due to the Oct. 07 fire and having to shuttle my dog around to one place and then the next. I called C.K. to get the dog washed after smelling like smoke and they were glad to work me into their schedule and very pleasant to work with. Kuddos to Country Kennel!!!
