Time to Incorporate Fallbrook

I am a military retiree,I have lived and worked and raised my daugher in Fallbrook for the better part of 25 years.We are staying right here,our "Friendly Village" is no longer safe,I believe its time to incorporate the town of Fallbrook and form a working city government so that we can have our own police department,not the left overs of the San Diego Sheriff's department that are so meagerly manned and funded and still expected to keep us safe,fight crime,traffic,etc...I would like to know the opinion of other Fallbrook residents on this subject,Change is a long time due.

I dont feel incorporation is the answer. I would not consider the San Diego Sheriffs here at the Alvarado sub-station "The left overs by any means". With the exception of one deputy (who will be left unnamed)they are among the most professional law enforcement agents in the county. A local police department will only breed corruption with biased individuals on their own agenda like other cities in our county. Funding: I feel that they have the needed resources to keep us safe (traffic is the duty of the CHP).
What is needed is input and motivation via a more aggressive group of community leaders and volenteers. I am sure I will be considered racist but ICE should be more actively involved here. The School District Superintendant should do his job or lose it. Thats my opinion.

Unfortunately, adding government will likely do nothing to address the *causes* which spur things like crime and gangs. Government tends to address the symptoms, as they are the easiest to address, and offer the best opportunities for re-election. Having a private police force is also just addressing the symptom. I would rather spend money on the cause.

I'm no expert in the area of crime, gangs, etc., but I imagine the socio-economic profile of Fallbrook and the immediately surrounding areas make it ripe for both.

The community coming together is probably the single best opportunity to address some of these issues. First and foremost, it begins in your home with your own children. Outside of that, community programs and zero tolerance policies--although this brings up the question of enforcement and money...I have no answers for that stuff.

I've relatively new the area. Does FB have a community sponsored peace force of any type?

Welcome to our "Friendly Village" N2FB. I to am relitively new to the Fallbrook Community (about 10 years) I appreciate that you also share my concerns in this area. Yes, there is a Sheriffs Community Service Agent Department that consists of people over 50 checking on vacationing residents homes and assisting in traffic control in community events.
I feel there should be a more active force of volunteers serving the community. Of course unarmed, with out the power of arrest, but in cooperation and communication with the Sheriffs Department.
I have not seen some of the issues descibed in other Fallbrook forums but I dont doubt that they exist. Such as herion addicts and speed freaks but I dont get out much or associate with those types. I do see other individuals along with groups of people that take away from the small town atmosphere that Fallbrook used to present. Fallbrook does not have the facilities to accommindate those individuals and they should be sent packing.
