I ride a Harley here in Myrtle Beach. I have participated in many poker runs, toy runs etc. We who choose to ride give back much to this community because we care. We are tax paying, voters who deserve to have our quality of life.
We attend rallies in other states each year and are welcomed by all. The bikers will not stop coming to the beach. They will however not spend as much money as they normally do. Many of my friends go to other areas to shop, get gas, go to dinner. They will not spend any money in Myrtle Beach unless they have to (such as bills) I'm a biker, professional, caring, taxpayer and voter. I matter and my vote counts. |

Well stated. I agree.

Mr. Wilson you need to look in the mirror. Race has nothing to do with it. Nor does the killing of the young man. As i read it, BOTH bike rallies are being stopped. So how is that racist??

SC board: State tax collections are $100M short By JIM DAVENPORT - Associated Press Writer COLUMBIA, S.C.--South Carolina's budget is in worse shape than expected as tax collections have fallen $100 million short of projections, prompting the state's economic oversight board Monday to order lower estimates for the just-started fiscal year. The slowing tax collections mean one of the state's reserve accounts will be wiped out and that a second,$187 million rainy day fund could be tapped for as much as $66 million, said John Rainey, the chairman of the state Board of Economic Advisors. Stop the HD spring rally? Is THAT good leadership? Is this going to help your city and S.C..???? EVER HEAR OF CUTTING YOUR NOSE OFF TO SPITE YOUR FACE? I guess not |

I don’t believe the Hell’s Angels participation in a charitable poker-run, negates the everlasting harm they have inflected on society with their criminal enterprises, drugs, prostitution and just low-life standards. Keep your dirty money; I’ll work for mine!
Captain Strickland, good job to you and yours! Ed Wilson, if someone does not think like you, does that make them a racist-if so, what are you? |

The city cannot go after the ABBW without being sued.Thats is why they are going after both. This way they save face, saving money on law suits. BUT they will us it as a way to raise your taxes behind you back. Your the fool. |

As for you - you are a real A*S Hole. Toy runs are run all over the country from east to west. The two largest are in Calif. and in Philadelphia. Money raised from poker run are given to people in need. Biker go into their pockets to help others in need way more than any other person. |

Swing through CT. you stupid A** and I will personally show you what toy runs do. I'll show you the little kids in our hospitals that get a smile from a stuffed animal that we donate. You are so full of the crap that comes out your other end that you can't see the light if you tried. You and your kind make me sick and deserve to live in your little world, complaining about everything. |

To the moron,(DOCTOR?)
Let me educated your seemingly uneducated a$$. A "poker run" is merely a raffle. The same kind of raffle that charity events have. You do not ride from place to place and gamble (play poker). You DONATE money at the beginning of the ride, ride to several locations and pick up a card (while giving these locations business, i.e. buying a soda, or whatever you want to buy), then you return to the origin of the ride. You put all your cards together, and whoever has the best hand wins a prize. The rest of the money is DONATED to a charity, family, or person in need. No gambling is taking place sir, unless you consider raffle events as gambling? Educate yourself before you try to speak intelligently on a subject that you know nothing about, therefore making yourself a known moron to all of us. |

As far as "Hell's Angels". I do not associate with them, nor do about 95% of us that ride motorcycles. They are a gang, and like other gangs, are most likely involved in criminal activity.
When there are 200,000 Harley (or motorcycle) riders on vacation at one time, in Myrtle Beach, a very HIGH percentage of those motorcycle riders are with family, here to have fun, doing the right thing, and are NOT associated with any kind of motorcycle group that thrives in criminal activity. As a matter of fact, a lot of those vacationers are probably making more money than you want people to think you make, have bigger houses, more toys, and DONATE to more charities than you probably ever will. Go back to doctoring whatever it is that you doctor on, and drink yourself a dewars on the 19th hole. |

Lady Rider
I think Hemingway would be a good place to hold the bike rallies.I'm sure all your neighbors would welcome it with open arms |

I am responding to the letter from Mr. Ed Wilson regarding the crackdown on rallies. Once again the race card has been pulled out. Whenever some kind of conflict comes about [someone like you] is the first to cry racism, and heaven forbid there is a black person who isn't defending "his people". Mr. Wilson is right, most people that live here aren't worried about the Harley rally, we want to see the Atlantic Beach rally go but it has nothing to do with race, it has to do with actions. You don't see Harley riders zooming in and out of traffic at high speeds cutting people off. You don't see Harley riders with girls on the back of their bike with everything exposed. This past Atlantic rally we were blessed with all the jacked up cars with the bass you can hear a mile away that had to cruise at a snails pace so the people that couldn't hear them comming could still get an eye full. Not once have I mentioned race in what I have described, it is all actions and just so happens to go on during one rally and not the other. I am not saying Harley riders are quiet, but they do respect the people (families) that choose not to participate in the rallies.
As for the crime, black-on-black may be accepted (or just used to) where you are from but it is not accepted in Myrtle Beach. I say we keep both rallies and just move the Atlantic Beach Rally to Red Bluff and see what you have to say when it's in YOUR backyard. L. Bradley, MB |
