if the naacp doesn't like how they are treated, then take the rally elsewhere. Believe, i work in tourism, and the 2 bike weeks do not compare. For in stance, last year I took a picture at the place i work on the Saturday of Harley week. In the picture, there were 2 beer cans on top of the trash can because they couldn't fit anymore trash in the can. The next sat. morning,"Black Bike Week", the same trash can had trash all around it, but yeat the bag in the can was not even half full

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer s hoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.
I am proud. But, you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists?
There are some racial issues in this country, but crying racism is just an excuse for most of the problems Blacks face(drugs, welfare,lack of education and lack of desire for an education, just to name a few). Education and hard work brings respect and will overcome racism I agree with you and yes I am white. It is just sad that racism exists on both sides but yet it seems wrong when only committed by one side. What if we had a White Ms. American Pagent? That would be racist of us but is it not racist for the Black Ms. American Pagent. Watch American History X and see how easy lives can be changed by the hateful words of a few

They should be here for both weeks because people are not treated any different either week. The only difference is that the harley riders have more respect for themselves than do the Atlantic Beach riders do. Also this is a BIKE WEEK not a CAR WEEK.

and also for those that question the hotel rates, and why they are so much higher. Every room in MB during Black Bike Week only has 2 people in it. Every reservation made either by phone or internet, they all need rooms with 3-4 beds, but they only have 2 people. And at check in when they register 4 cars, need 4 keys, and swear they only have 2 people, that is why rates are jacked up. To get them to pay for the extra people they have, you have to make your rates what it would normally cost for 4-6 people. You have to buy extra linen, because the rooms w/ just 2 people need 10 towels, have to buy extra irons because each person in the hotel must have their own iron. And then when you get them to pay for the extra people, you are racist, and you don't do this to the harleys. well, the harleys lie 2, but 9 times out of 10 they will finally just shut up, pay, and go on and have a great time. Where as BBW, it's usually 1 time out of 10.

Waitresses not tipped, food bills not paid, pulling away without paying for gas, hotel/motel rooms trashed, riding down on the road on one tire in 5:00 rush hour traffic, doing 80 mph down business 17, trash thrown into the grass of not only the highways but in businesses and residential areas, and last but certainly not least....BIG BLACK BARE BOOTY UP IN THE AIR FOR THE WHOLE WORLD AND SMALL CHILDREN RIDING IN CARS TO SEE. Any wonder why so many people dread to see BLACK BIKE WEEK?!!!!!

Also, I think the NAACP should be held responsible and sued for anything that happens during the time they are here. Any unpaid restaurant bills, NAACP better pay them. The NAACP should be sued for any vandalism, assault, etc. that occurs during "black bike week". It's a 2 way street you P.O.S. racist pigs. Using slavery that happened 200 years ago as an excuse is pathetic. As a poster already stated, you have had more than enough "reparations", more than you ever deserved. if you want equality then why dont you act like you've got some upbringing? ive heard for years that the "Atlantic Bike Fest" or "Black Biker Week" as the NAACP says... is nothing but an excuse for folks to come riding into town stealing this, being rude about that, taking what doesnt belong to them and treating the service industry people like trash! business owners make money at "Harley Week" the loose money at "Bike Fest", why would any business want to stay open for this kind of treatment. if you want equality and respect then start giving a little to get a little! i live in Shallotte NC and you can be sure i wont go anywhere near Myrtle Beach SC this weekend!

I *HOPE* that they are here watching. Watching all the ignorant and unlawful things that these 'bikers', if you will, do while they are here.
I'm so sick and tired of hearing that there is an outcry of unjust treatment between the two bike weeks. BULL***. I challenge ANYONE to sit along 17 business or Ocean Blvd and compare the differences between the two 'events'.

This is insane. I ran two national food chains here for years and we extended our hours just for that weekend. It was a nightmare!!! The damage that these businesses have after everyone rolls out of here is very very costly. During Harley week it was business as usual but the Memorial weekend rally was not. I had to staff extra people, bathrooms were destroyed, dining rooms were trashed, I had to hire someone to clean the parking lot and replace destroyed shrubs. I had a drug bust in the dining room, a person arrested for a drive by shooting in the parking lot, and a cop telling me to close because someone was waving a gun in front of my store. I wasn't sure of the safety of my employees. So if a business wants to charge a little more to recoup damages then so be it. For gods sake, it is Memorial Day weekend and if a business wants to close then let it happen. Most of them would be closed even if it wasn't Atlantic Bike Fest. I no longer am in that line of business and I do get the weekend off, Thank God!

Maybe the NAACP can stick around and clean up the trash that is left along the roads, and parking lots. There is a big differnce in the 2 weeks. The city of MB/ Surfside/ Garden City does not have the need to rent a front end loader to clean up the trash, yet Atlantic beach does. Lets compare apples to apples.

After having lived in the area over 28 years and lived through the changes of both bike festivals, the Harley Festival has not changed in the years except for the number of them visiting. They are for the most part respectful and nice to the local people and for the most part obey the traffic laws.
There was a time when you didn't even know Black Bider week was going on unless you went by Atlantic Beach (1980's). Thanks to the NAACP, they have taken over the whole area with rudeness and disrespect. A couple of years ago I made the mistake of going to a restuarant during this weekend and was appalled at the way they treated the poor waitstaff. I have also seen first hand some of the rudeness posted here. When is Myrtle Beach going to wake up and stand up and put a end to the local people being held hostage!!
I make sure I am out of town Memorial Day weekend. Maybe we need to ask Atlanta and Virginia Beach what they did to finally be free of this sad situation! Enough of being bullyed by the NAACP!

It is really a sad thing that we have to even discuss this topic. Everyone knows the complete and total lack of respect that these "Bikefest" people have for everyone who lives here, but the othe tourist, and all of the businesses that they go to. I for one, am really sick and tired of having to cater to them when they come here and trash this city! It sickens me that a business owner can't close and spend time with his / her family on Memorial Day weekend like so many other people do around the country. Hell, I thought the blacks were supposed to be boycotting South Carolina anyway! Why can't they just go somewhere else that doesn't cost so much to stay, and act like a bunch of hoodlums? I hope like hell that J. Reuben is packed to the gills after this weekend, and the penalties are stiff!
