Mrs. Cobb, You moved to MB knowing all about the rallies during the month of May. Why complain now? That's like moving to the mountains and complain about the hills. There are plenty of other places to live (even in Horry County) that you can move to so the noise of tourists won't bother you. That would be my suggestion.

And may I ask you why should she have to move?? The bike rallies have grown much LARGER over the years. Even if she did know about them perhaps she didn't think they would become such a problem. She has as much right to express her opinion and live where she pleases without being bothered by ANYONE vacationing here.

I am outraged everytime I read the anti-biker letters. There are two seperate bike events totally different from each other. To keep lumping them together in your complaints makes no sense. The only thing they have incommon is that the participants are on two wheels. The Harley-Davidson rally has planned events through out the week scattered from Murrels Inlet to Longs. The Atlantic Beach bike rally is a two day street party located in a three block area of Atlantic beach. The HD rally bikers stay in our hotels, eat in our resturants, buy MB souviners in the Bargins,Pacifics,Wings,etc.. There are no food vendors at the HD rally. The Atlantic Beach rally is 80% Food & drink vendors (hence the street party). You all say the bikers should leave so families can come in May. Well guess what, most family visitors come from areas north of Myrtle Beach. Most all northern states children don't get out of school for their summer breaks until after the first week of June. Lighten up, it's only 14 days a year.

Fourteen (14) days of HELL!! Why should we spend even one (1) day in hell?
Take the rallies to Milwaukee, Wi. I understand there is a nice museum open now. They even have a grass knoll when one can bow down and pay reverence to the "IRON HORSE"
And Milwaukee will probably WANT you there.
Think about it.

Then it continues THROUGH Memorial Day weekend. The 2 rallies are lumped together because BOTH of those events take place in May, hence the phrase "Stop the MAY-hem". Also, in regards to Memorial Day weekend, a lot of families in and around our state could come for a 3-4 day Holiday weekend without being exposed to the "near-nudityfest" during that same time frame.

What do people wear on the beach???? Do you find beachwear titilating?

Between the two bike rallies we are listening to revving motorcycles for sometimes 20 hours a day. All this so you can have some fun?! BBW is worse but the HD rally has its problems also don't kid yourself. Also, just because people do not have children of school age doesn't mean they aren't a family. Many tourists will because school IS IN SESSION and they will have the beach, pool, malls, etc. to themselves. No ALL tourists have children. You're enraged! Give me a break. We are enraged that we have to put up with the noise and chaos 300,000+ bring in May.
