New Murray Restaurant

I'm a business owner in Murray, thinking of opening a new restaurant.

While I have a very good idea of the food and atmosphere I wish to provide in this restaurant. However, I feel that the users of Topix are "plugged in" to the normal Murray consumer.

So, tell me....what type of restaurant would you want to see come to Murray. This is not what chain you want, I'm not interested in that. However, if you have seen a chain that you like something about (food, presentation, or niche) let me know what it was that you liked about it. At the end of the day, I'm looking for the type or individual food items that you are looking for.

We don't have enough Mexican restaurants.

Seafood.... I don't know that you can get crab legs anywhere in Murray, Ky. We are in dire need of a nice seafood/steak restaurant.

OP , i believe there are many places where you can get ideas from the locals not on Topix lol

I think we may be good on the Mexican restaurants.

@Elmer Gantry Tell me about the seafood....thats good idea...I agree completely. Tell me how you would pull it off. Do you think Murray can support a higher end seafood/steak restaurant? I worry about that when places like the Bullpen have tried...given they had some location issues in my opinion.

I want to create something that Murray will like and can afford without dropping the quality. The last thing you need is a place with a cheap steak/seafood dish. How would you suggest to pull this off in a bistro like setting? Say a place that would cater to the lunch crowd as well as the dinner crowd?

Shoot me some ideas, seems like Topix is a place to get some unbiased true thoughts from people. People say things on here that you never hear somewhere else.

How about a new Arby's and Dunkin Donuts? Oh wait...that was promised to us over a year ago!

The Lodge was high end steak and seafood and was very busy until it burnt down.

The market for restaurants is over saturated as it is.

please-dont open another mexican restaurant!!!! if you're serious about it, upscale italian or indian food would make me salivate daily......with a stronger want for indian cuisine. PLEASE do not bring a restaurant chain here! in my humble opinion, Jasmine is the best QUALITY food in this town as of current. the town obviously needs to expand culturally, but with folks asking for the likes of Logans and Red Lobster, im not sure it would support more ethnic offerings :(

I agree a GOOD seafood place is needed. Check out Walers Catch online. They have a great menu selection for dinner and lunch and soemthing for everyone. I've even had a few of their appetizer platters as lunch. I wouldn't necessarily offer lobster tail but crab legs would be awesome, some talapia, mahi mahi and salmon, scallops, clam strips and of course shrimp. You'd need to offer several different varieties of each type of seafood i.e. shrimp = peel & eat, fried, coconut, scampi, fetticini, etc. Lunch could be half orders of any of these. Also burgers but not ordinary burgers. You can search Nashville restaurants and find all kinds of delicious burgers offering different cheeses etc and out of the ordinary sandwiches for lunch as well such as ruebens and french dips etc. And as always offer steaks for those who don't want seafood or those who want some turf with their surf. Most of all good luck! I'm always looking for a great place to eat & in Murray since the Lodge burned there is no decent place to eat out.

Murray just can't support many more restaurants, especially high prices ones. People think we are a big town but we are not. Paducah has more restaurants because it not only has a bigger population in the city but has roughly double the population in McCracken County than Calloway does. Paducah is surrounded by Lone Oak, Reidland, and Heath while Murray is geographically isolated with nothing but farmland around it and doesn't have an interstate going through it like I-24 to attract people from all over the region.
