Rindi wrote: <quoted text> pag, you don't know those boys, bns and I do. Yes, what they did was wrong and yes, they should have the book thrown at them but you shouldn't talk about their parents because the boys that I know, their mom always makes them call her when they go out and tell her where they're going and she always makes sure they're doing the right thing. If they lie to her then that's their fault, not hers. So it's not about parents keeping their kids in line because even if they do their kids are going to wind up lying to them in the end. The mother is not the role model for boys. Tell us what the dad has been doing ?

BLW wrote: I knew Seth and Ethan when they were little boys. I have not seen them since, but it just makes me sick to think that they could take part in something so terrible. My prayers go out to this man's family & friends and also out to Debbie Doris. No one wants to believe their kids are capable of such terrible violence. I think teens are not monitored near enough in today's society which allows them to run with the wrong crowds or hang out in the wrong places. Were they from Garland ? I think the problem lies with parents.... why were they allowed to be out in a truck on Sat night ? They should have been somewhere working if they wanted that privilege. Someone here said they didn't know the man was dead until they were arrested ? and that something was wrong with the story... senseless if you ask me.

I think what happened is horrible. I too am a mother and when I heard what happened I thought if that were my son I'd say take him away an do not bring him back. I say that but am not in their shoes right now so cannot really know how they feel except they have to be in terrible pain. knowing that their child did such a thing. My son is no angel. He has done things that I do not approve of but I love him with all my heart. No he has not ever done something like that and I really don't believe that he could. I'm sure those boys parents can't believe what they did. It's easy for people to judge others but God is really the only one who has the right to. I pray for that man's family and for all of the families that have to bear this horrible pain. Support them ? How on earth can you do that NOW ? They should have been taught RIGHT from WRONG... that is the kind of support boys need.

These are also the same boys that were kind and gracius in there neighborhood. They would play with all the little kids in the neighborhood and look out for smaller children. I am so sad for them. This is one bad decision in a huge aray of good decision. I love these boys they spent years mowing my lawn. There Mom and Dad were alwayse very envolved. Does anyone know about the trial how can we go and suport them? Support them, how about supporting the familyn & friends of the deceased. From what I've read, mom & dad weren't exactly saints. With all of the trouble the boys have gotten into in the past, they still did not learn. So this time, they need to pay for their crime. The brothers were the same two guys suspected in breaking in a neighbor's home, unfortunately, not enough evidence.

I am a high school teacher in the area of Wylie. I am not a bit suprised at the actions of the boys. Things in the high school classroom are not like they were when I went to school. I'm a rather large, somewhat intimidating man and I can not tell you how many times a day I get a kid who talks back to me, tell's me to go "f" myself, takes a detention and tears it up in front of the class, is overheard talking about weed, sex etc. It all comes down to lack of parental involvement in kids lives and being there to teach them the right decisions and making sure they are making the right choices, hanging out with the right people and just teaching basic ethics and morals. I cannot imagine how much worse it will be in the years to come in this "me" attitude world.

I believe a teenager attitude is a reflection from something he received or did not receive from parents. . One poster here said all positive things about a boys mom, but no mention was made of his dad.

I have many friends that are teachers and have heard stories similar to yours. It's a wonder that people still want to go to college to get teaching degrees. It's absolutely disgusting that these children you speak of are so completely devoid of parental supervision and guidance. It is shocking how behavior goes unchecked, schools are expected to be babysitters and police have to hired to stay in schools all day. Who would have ever believed it would come to this. I know I am not the only one who has watched in disbelief as parents try to be their children's friend. That will never work! Kids need guidance...and the parent is it!!! I beg to differ with the adage, "It takes a village to raise a child". It doesn't. It takes a set of good, engaged, caring parents...period! After that, everything else will fall into place. I hope the day will come again when teachers can get along with the business of teaching and not have to be fearful of turning their backs on a classroom. I wish you luck and the courage to keep up the good work! Thank you very much for being a teacher.

It develops with use, makes all rude and obnoxious people who can't get along with anyone or keep a job.

What did you expect would happen when you take a hammer to someone? When its 4 against 1? Did they think that they could just beat someone like that and there not be a chance of him dying? Just because your close to the boys doesn't mean you have to believe them when they tell you they had no intention of killing the man. They came back that evening (pre-meditation) and with weapons. They had very much intended to severly hurt that poor man. My 4 year old daughter knows better than that! bns wrote: Everyone here has the story wrong. I was there, and am very close with four of the boys. I'm not saying what they did was right, because it was far from that. But they had no intention of killing the man, and had no idea they did until they were arrested.

idiots wrote: Bunch of stupid f##kheads. They deserve life in prison, especially the hammer yielding jackass. See the problem with todays youth is everything they do, has to be over the top. Being "extreme" is the new cool thing to be. If that means bringing a gun to school, or dressing like an idiot, or acting like an idiot, being violent, it doesn't matter what you do. As long as you do it BIG. and EXTREME. Thanks to our culture of extreme consumerism, do you really have to wonder, what brings out these behaviors in teens? They were violent video gaming Xbox playing idiots in boring white suburban america. In an america that praises violence, soldiers, cops, guns, military, football, racism, being tough and stupid. What do you expect? First of all America doesnt praise violence, soldiers protect the innocent and we are more often then not condemed for it, believe it or not. What these teens did is wrong and America and especially the community of Wylie is not praising them for there actions. You cant say that Xbox is to blame for there actions nor are the parents of the teens to blame, they have no one to blame but themselves, and they are going to have to live with their actions for the rest of their lives.

Doesn't matter how good someone was at one time - when they get into situations where they feel they need to prove something they have a tendancy to make poor, sound, judgement and that fact that I live in Wylie and something like this happened for telling them to "slow down". I can't remember how many times I've said that myself and never at any time did I think those individuals would have come back and tried to beat me to death. They deserve whatever punishment they get, lets just hope justice does right by the man's family that no longer will be able to see him each day and talk to him and share their life with him.

If someone brings a weapon to a fight, i.e. a hammer, then they very well know that death could in fact occur. This is a terrible loss and I feel that 16 or not, they should all be tried as adults and given the maximum sentence which may even land them on death row. A 16 and 17 year old knows the difference between right and wrong, and it would be a slap in the face to the man's family if they are given a slap on the wrist.

The boys that are under 17 need to be adjudicated as adults. The heinousness of the crime should dictate as much. The blame game is no longer a factor. They were a group of bad asses and now they need to take on the punishment that bad asses get. They did it and they're going down. Boo-hoo mom and dad. Should've taken your job seriously.
