Now beer; that determines what kind of man you are. Are you a PBR guy? Sam Adams? OMB? Budweiser? Coors Light? Food too; 1) do you do Buffalo wings or chicken fingers? 2) beef brisket of pulled pork? 3) New York Strip or Chuck Roast 4) Nathens or Oscar Meyer?

But, I even want a Syracuse graduate to go to Heavan. If, they renounce that God-awful institution. I know LC, you and I both have family that made the bad choice to enroll there.

Some older posts from page 29: There are intelligent people and unintelligent people in all walks of life. Do you also believe all Asians are intelligent? Don’t you understand they have ditch-diggers in Japan, China, and India?…and there are people who clean toilets in Holand?…and there are neurologists from Mississippi? It takes all types to make the world go around. I am from Long Island, but when I left for college (Buffalo), I truly thought Buffalonian’s were intellectually inferior. But, I was just being an arrogant New Yorker and I needed to open my mind and shut my mouth. I also thought similar of those in Northern New Jersey. My in-laws tried to convince me that all Nigerians are intellectually superior, which is of course, not true. They pointed out that everyone in our circle of friends was an MBA, JD, or MD. But I also pointed out that back in Nigeria, someone is flipping burgers, pumping gas, mining coal, and digging ditches. Only the Nigerians who are smart enough to get to the US get to enjoy the rewards of being here. But, it was offensive that they tried to convince me of their superiority. As a ‘real’ New Yorker, I can say, we have some real dummies on Long Island and Queens, Brooklyn, SI, the Bronx & Manhattan. And, because we are from the North does not give us license to make fun of those in the South. Allow me to quote a famous rapper from the early 90’s; “it ain’t where you are from, it’s where you at…”

Previous post on page 32; Standing your Ground, why do you feel you have a need to defend the South? The South has everything the North does. There is just an overabundance of many of the attributes due to migration and population. That tied will change too over time. The South may have a larger proportion of poor, but it does not make the South a bad place to be. There are fewer schools in the South because there are fewer people. So, as the population expands, there will be a need for more schools. Duke, Emory, UNC, & USC are all fine schools. So are BU, NYU, Cornell, Princeton, etc… What does it mean at the end of the day?…nothing.
Cost of living? I think you mean the cost of ‘housing’ is higher in the North, and I tend to agree. I live in a 4,000 sq ft home but I also moved from a 4,000 sq ft home. I sold my home for $500,000 in the North because that is what the market demanded at the time. I paid $250,000 for a similar home in the South because that is what the market demanded.
Cost of living(2)? I have found that many of the ‘daily requirements’ are much more expensive in the South. Many of my favorite foods (steak, shrimp, & chicken breasts) are in most cases twice as much in cost. So, from my perspective, it evens out.
Restaurant life is much cheaper in the South from what I have seen, but so is the ‘quality’ of food. So, you may get treated like crap in a NY eatery, but the food will be awesome.
The South is not perfect, and neither is the North. There are a lot of good things about being down here, and there are nice things about living in the North too. I tend to think ‘America’ is a wonderful place to live.
1. There is no better beer than Boston’s Sam Adams 2. There is no better coffee that any ‘fill in the blank street vendor’ in Brooklyn or downtown Manhattan. 3. Hotdogs suck, but if you are going to have one, make it Nathan’s from Brooklyn 4. The best damn mixed drink is the Long Island Iced Tea; But the Texas Tea has a better bite. What’s the difference? Take away the triple Sec and add another shot of Tequila. 5. The best wings are from a Buffalo NY suburb called Duffs. 6. The Philly Cheese Steak sandwich is absolutely awesome. 7. The best pizza is from Brooklyn. But deep dish Chicago pizza is great too. And I’m a New Yorker! 8. I hate pulled pork of all kinds. 9. I hate that white gravy 10. I hate sweet tea. Chemical tea is much better, but I understand why southerners would never have it; it’s powder.
But, I chose to move to the South because it is a livable place. Yes, it gets hot, the summers are a little long, but my wife has never been happier, my kids have adjusted, and that means that I am now happy too. The fall season is absolutely amazing. The springs have been great. I love the rainstorms. The South is a great place for college football.

When you arrived in Buffalo, did you think you were in Alabama or something? I forgive you because I used to think everybody who went to NYC were WoodyAllenesque, when actually only about 75% of you are all neurotic and wimpy child molesters like him. When people down south hear I am from Buffalo, they assume I am like people from NYC. They think Buffalo is a suburb of NYC, when there is actually a substantial distance both culturally and geographically. Buffalonians are have a more "Rust Belt"/ Great Lakes language and culture. More like Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland than NYC

Truth is ANY local Buffalo Pizza place knows how to make good wings, and they know they are to be eaten with celery and BLUE CHEESE dressing-Not ranch Most southern wings are garbage, especially when they bread them. I prefer the sweet tea, but I usually drink the chemical stuff because there must be 1500 calories in a tall glass of true southern sweet tea I will admit I like "chicken fried steak" with that white gravy and covered in pepper---a real heart-stopper meal The South is not a great place for college football. Southern college football is more corrupt than Enron. I am wondering how Cam Newton is getting by with the pay cut he had to take when he went from Auburn to the NFL. That "Blindside" movie was very touching, but I wonder how many boosters would adopt some at-risk kid who was a math whiz instead of a football player...Or even just some average kid who needed help

Then I realized; maybe it was me. I had to realize, not everyone is like a LIer NYCer. I had to make the adjustment. And, I was ok with that. The food in Buffalo was awesome. But, then again, I was on a college budget, so it was relative to my income class. UB was awesome! I just posted a UB flag on my home yesterday. It is next to my kids' Charlotte 49er flag. I have a pillar for each childs' college selection.

You know I was raised in an orphanage on LI. Well, one man approached me to live with him as long as I agreed to box for a living. No college, no nothing. Just fighting. I flew out the next morning to Boston.
