If the bible is about human beings shouldn't it address every situation? Does it? This ought to be interesting! Give examples!! One example= Anorrexia.= Psalms 107:17-18? "..Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat (food) They draw near unto the gates of death". Got one?

I am not good at quoting scripture verse, I know what the old test. vs. the New test.saids but I do believe the Bible does cover every situation if you search and study you will find the answer. My mom and grandparents read the bible daily my mom still does no matter how sick she is she reads her bible every day, she puts me to shame I must say, seems like no matter what time of day I choose to read I have some kind of interuption and never get to read as much as I had planned, but they have allways said each time they read it they found or learned something new. After I got saved I read the new test. first then started on the Old test. I still find myself wanting to read more of the new test. than the old. I am always surprised that what I thought I understood by just reading it that when I really study I find it was what I wanted it to say and not what God was actually saying. Glad you brought this topic up I hope it stays clean and gets some interesting conversations started.

And withal they learned to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. Timothy 5:13

Here is a good subject to bring up about women in the bible. Women are nothing but objects as portrayed in the King James Version. There are several scriptures about them being abused and to have lesser value as a human being than man.

[Eph. 5:23]
"husband is head of the wife";
[I Tim. 2:11-12] "She shall have no dominion over a man".
[1 Corin. 11:7]
For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man, for man was not made for woman, but woman from man, neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
[1 Tim 2:11-14]
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
[Zech. 5:7]
The leaden cover was lifted, there was a woman sitting, and he (the angel) said: this is wickedness.
[1 Corin 11:5-10]
But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovereddishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels."
[Ezek. 9:5]
And the Lord said, "Go through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have you pity. SLAY UTTERLY OLD AND YOUNG, BOTH MAIDS AND LITTLE CHILDREN, AND WOMEN.
[Num. 31:1]
And the Lord said unto Moses, "Avenge the children of the Mid'-an'ites.. They warred against the Mid'-i-an'ites, as the Lord commanded Moses, and they slay all the males. And they took all women as captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods. And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.
Moses said, "HAVE YOU SAVED ALL THE WOMEN ALIVE? NOW KILL EVERY MALE AMONG THE LITTLE ONES, AND KILL EVERY WOMAN that has known a man by lying with him, but all the young girls who have not known a man by lying with him keep alive for yourselves.

The list could go on and on but here are some examples of a few. Woman as depicted as objects not only in the old testament but the new testament as well. But there is also a contradiction too.

[Ephesians 5:25]
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

So does this mean man is allowed to abuse his wife, treat her as an object and possibly kill her as long as he loves her?

As a great speaker once said, "Know your role." Funny how eastern and western religions tend to follow the same theme concerning the subjugation of women.

Did I hit a nerve? I personally don't find it funny and I thought I brought up some legitimate questions here. I know I am a woman and since you think I am inferior than you should have no problem with debating with the weaker vessel. Right? So please enlighten us on your thought and present a worthy response. I know my role to my definition. I am neither superior nor inferior than the rest of the human race. I have just as much right being male or female to have equal opportunity. Please tell us as to what you think my role should be?

I concur. If the bible was in indeed written by man, man is not perfect. I personally believe there is a certain amount of history written in the King James bible but there is also a lot to be said about it's history. The new testament was not written until 100-300 years after Christ died.It was written before the close of the first century by those who didn't know Christ personally, had encountered him, or were under the direction of those who were his disciples.
In addition to that, there have been several books added and taken away. Not to mention the fact that there have been several interpreted versions printed since it's original Greek text.

I've been saying that for years; I wrestled with it first at about age 12. I believe in God, and I believe in the moral teachings of the Bible, but I cannot and will not believe that God would subjugate a woman! This was all a man's way to keep a woman under his, er, thumb, if you will. I believe that men and women are intellectual equals, and I believe that, while they are different physically, each sex has its own particular strengths. For instance, did you know that males are more prone to disease, even from birth? Did you know that, as sperm, the male sperm swims faster, but it doesn't have as much endurance as the female? This is a clinically proven fact (Look it up on the web!). That's why there are more female babies than male, on average, because the chance of "mating" on the day of ovulation is slim. It also explains why males want to mate with more than one woman; there are more of them, and it is necessary biologically to propagate the species. As bad as I hate to admit it, men are genetically prone to bigamy or polygamy! Women have a higher threshold for pain (Childbirth brings about this necessity.), and women are more emotional, possibly because they have to attach themselves to their offspring to make sure that they are cared for. God, I love Discovery Channel!

Back to the Bible, though, I know that, while divinely inspired, the Bible was written by men. I also know that, even if it had been written as DIRECT quotes from God himself in the beginning, there have been so many translations and versions published, who knows what those original texts might have been? For example, why is there a King James version of the Bible? I, for one, will let God speak to me in his own way. I will live a moral life, I will harm no one, I will believe in God, but I will not believe that he is cruel and unjust.

Have a nice day, everyone!

Would you think that God would advise you to 'co-sign' for a loan? I would have! When people come to you with a sob-story, want you to co-sign.... you automatically think it would be unchristian to say "No".. THEY think it would be unchristian if you don't.. But.. guess what God says? Anybody know?
