Heard on the news this evening that in Colorado Obama supporters are threatening to backlash if the Delegates in that state DO NOT go with Obama..lol...Geeshhhhhhh...The y threatened to riot.. Just another reason as to why we DO NOT need him in as president!! This dude isn't even president and already look at what turmoil his candidacy is causing!! What a future our country holds, if he does become our next president!!! Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this United States, and do we all not have the right to VOTE for whom we want???? Hmmmm, wasn't that going on in Iraq when they tried to vote for the first time???

Well we can't complain, it is in reverse in WV, we are all up set because Sen. R and Rahall and all supports him and most of us are backlashing not to vote for them. lol Maybe we should trade out our crew for theirs, maybe WV. could really kick in gear with Colorado Delegates. HA Ha, Not being mean, just an opinion.

I ahve not heard either of you say why you dislike Obama, could it be because you have based your decision on race and have not examined any facts abou the candidates? Regardless of who you vote for please make an educated decision, not one based on bigotary.(The key word here is EDUCATED, something I am sure neither of you are.)

Why would you start to attack them or their opinion??? Your just showing your own ignorance. I dont like Obama...i think he's deceitful and theres something about him i dont trust. He backs that preacher says what a wonderful family friend he is and then when he starts to show his OWN bigotry obama gets away from him. You cannt convince me that this preacher could be a family friend and Obama not know what opinions he had. Oh yeah im sure he just all of a sudden said oh i feel this way just in time to ruin his campain....riiiight!!! Obama will kill this state and our miners wont work! he's not right for this state and i dont think he's right for the country. Go with whoever you want. Thats our right as americans, but i dont trust his slick charasmatic way....even the serpent in the garden of eden was charming!!!

My educated decision is made. It will NOT be for a man who refuses to wear an American Flag pin, refuse to salute our soldiers, and not to mention refuse to cross his heart and acknowledge the American Flag during the pledge of allegience. Regardless of what race he is, does this sound like a president? It sure doesn't sound like one I would want.

I didn' even consider race when I responded to the thread above. What came to mind was how different views people had and it struck me funny that if we switched the delegates it could solve a minor problem that most WV's have with Oboma. I feel the same way you do and thought I would explain to you. Thank you for your words of wisdom.

I didn't know that we had to start every thread with I am educated so therefore I just gave my opinion. The next thing you know some of these highly educated people will request that we put our degrees on here.:) I liked your educated decision, it goes right along with my common sense decision. Thanks

WHY won't you people use the internet to check your facts before you start running off at the mouth. Why should Obama cross his heart, should he hope to die, too? He acknowledges the flag, and he supports our troops, he wants to bring them home to their families. Suppose it was a Jehovah's Witness running, they don't stand at the National Anthem, or the Pledge. A lot of people have their idiosyncricies, doesn't make them bad. I do NOT place my hand on my heart when I hear the National Anthem, and I can assure you, I'm a proud American, AND the widow of a Marine Veteran. Sooo, a pic was snapped of Obama NOT saluting or placing his hand on his heart, the implication, obviously, is that failing to display the proper hand-over-heart etiquette constitutes evidence that Barack Obama is unpatriotic and therefore unfit to hold the office of president. Some even speculated that it was an intentional gesture of dissent on the candidate's part, to which an Obama spokesperson replied on Inside Edition, "Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't [put his hand on his heart]. In no way was he making any sort of statement, and any suggestion to the contrary is ridiculous." Not that it will make a difference to some, but Obama's campaign was quick to supply photos of Obama properly saluting the flag on other occasions which can be viewed at MediaMatters.org And if ONE of you say you've NEVER not saluted or put your hand on your heart when the Anthem was sung, you'd probably be lying. Get over it, the man is NOT the enemy! And if you're as gung-ho, die hard Americans, you sure couldn't prove it by the posts on these threads!

You say check the internet so i have something to post...and your posts say ur a christian so u should know if this is correct.... Obama Cites Sermon on the Mount for his Support of Civil Unions "If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans." Please correct me if I’m wrong...The Sermon on the Mount is mostly in Matthew with references in Mark and Luke. This is a Presidential Canidate that has been put through the wringer about his faith...I’m just gonna bust him for what I know...If he is a "Christian, a devot Christian." That has been a member of his church for 20 years and the Sermon on The Mount is central to his faith and how he lives his life; should he not know where it is in the Bible? This isn’t an unreasonable thing for me to be questioning...check out the transcripts and video provided in the links below which are to a local Ohio news broadcast where Senator Obama was speaking at Hocking University. This is just me as a babe in Christ speaking out. I have a real problem with an educated person who wants to lead our country referring to text in the Bible that is so central to their belief that references to "The Sermon On The Mount" has been talked about by him in more than one speaking engagement...I by no means am the best Christian I know, but I didn’t go on TV as a candidate for President claiming to be "devot" christian.! Sarah Pulliam Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama invoked the Sermon on the Mount as a reason for why he supports civil unions during an appearance in Nelsonville, Ohio, on Sunday. The response came after Pastor Leon Forte, who heads up Grace Christian Center in Athens, Ohio, asked about Obama’s faith. The video is available here and the full transcript is available here. "Your campaign sets a quandary for most evangelical Christians," Forte said. "They believe in the social agenda that you have. They have a problem with what the conservatives have laid out as the moral litmus test about who is worthy and who is not." Obama responded by saying he is a devout Christian, he prays to Jesus every night and tries to go to church as much as he can. .. "I think what you may be referring to, though, when you say controversies, probably has more to do with two issues, which is abortion and gay marriage, which has become, I think, how people measure faith in the evangelical community." Obama said that while he does not believe in gay marriage, he does think the state should allow civil unions that allow a same-sex couples to visit each other in a hospital or transfer property to each other. "If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans," Obama said. He called abortion a tragic and painful issue. "But I think that ... in the end I think women, in consultation with their pastors, and their doctors, and their family, are in a better position to make these decisions than some bureaucrat in Washington." Obama ended: "That’s my view. Again, I respect people who may disagree, but I certainly don’t think it makes me less Christian. Okay." Obama also cited the Sermon on the Mount in his June 28, 2006,’Call to Renewal’ address. "Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is ok and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount - a passage that is so radical that it’s doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application? So before we get carried away, let’s read our bibles. Folks haven’t been reading their bibles." Obama also spoke with CT about abortion in a January interview.

nott - I don't think you are reading the passage correctly. He is saying that there is an obscure passage in Romans that condemns gay relationships but when Jesus came about, he challenged people to believe in many things, outlined in the Sermon. I'm not a bible expert either but I am an historian and I can tell you that in the time the Sermon was given the views of Jesus were considered very radical. I think the challenge as a christian is to be more 'christ-like,' which sometimes means we have to be accepting of others. Creating laws depriving people of moments, like being present in a hospital room at the death of a loved one, discriminates against someone simply based on their lifestyle. Isn't it for God to decide who gets punished? I didn't vote for Obama but I just felt compelled to write because I think you misinterpreted the quote. I don't believe that his nomination would be the end of the world and I see nothing anti-christian (or anti-American) about him.

I was not for the most part referring to his views on cival liberties. My view on that is that nobody should have to die alone. if you have spent the last 20 yrs or 20 minutes with someone and want them to be with you when u die and make all the choices and get everything you have then thats your right. I think everyone should get the right to leave their life insurance or cover their loved one on their health insurance. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT!
My problem with what Obama said was....that he used the sermon on the mount as a obscure passage in Romans. He also says that the sermon on the mount is central to his faith and how he lives his life. Should he not know where in the bible it is mentioned. I mean really... i'd like to know how he can live his life by a sermon that isnt found in the book he is "so-called" reading it in. Its not hard to see when someone is being deceitful on his religious beliefs. I mean u do not have to be religous to be president its not a law or even a rule. I think he wants people to think he is something he is NOT. Once again thats my opinion and like they say...everyone has one!

However, I do know this, I'm not a babe in Christ, I have been in Church for most of my life. I know the Sermon on the Mount, but if I had been on a speaking circuit, and mentioned something that I knew was in the Bible, I don't know that I could tell the Book, chapter, and verse. Obama is not a minister, and he has been in so many places, one right after another, I'd be a little surprised if he could tell you his address and phone number, right off the top of his head. Give the man a break, don't judge him because he couldn't quote chapter and verse, I've even heard ministers who misquoted the Bible, how many times have you heard "money is the root of all evil" or "God won't put more on you than you can bear", I've heard ministers say both, and they're both incorrect, LOVE of money is the root of all evil, and God won't put more on you than HE CAN HELP you bear. I DO see where you're going with this, but I think you're gagging on a gnat and swallowing a camel. Ease off the man, look at his whole life, not just a few minutes of it.

I can see your point on public speaking...and may even agree with it. I still dont support him. Theres always candidates u like and some u dont. Guess thats why its called voting. i am a mother and wife of a coalminer and for my childrens sake i have to look at alot of this when it comes to voting...one thing being the moral character of a candidate and then how they will help or hurt the industry that feeds my kids.... i fear he will not help that! U may be in Nc now but this state, which im sure you know, depends on coal.
Thank you for explaining that in a nice way...politics and religion are hard to discuss sometimes without it gettin heated up... have a wonderful day

Here, too, the economy has been drastically effected by the textile industry and the furniture making industry having the jobs outsourced to other countries. I believe that Obama would try to keep the industries that are benefiting the American people, in America. Sure, I understand having to look at what might happen to the industry that your family depends on for its livlihood, but we all know that the Republican "rule" has hurt us in all aspects, only a couple of Republican presidents that I know of, in my lifetime, have helped the middle and lower class. I fully expect that McCain will be elected, and I know that he has the capabilities to show us that he's the man for the people, and I hope he does. I guess the best thing we can do is pray. The Bible says that if His people will turn from their wicked ways and fall on their knees, he will heal the land, and I can't tell you where it is, but I know it's there!:-)
