Apparently Mr. McMurray enjoys having sex with inmates. Now he will have the opportunity to do that to his hearts content... I'm sure he will make a good wife for a group of sexually deprived prisoners.

Where were the other jail employees? Were they watching? Why are they not in trouble for not protecting the prisoners?

Because there's a thing called "honor amongst thieves" that means criminals protect fellow criminals.
We're lucky Scott McMurray was even prosecuted, and even his raping of female inmates would have been swept under the rug had he not pissed someone off higher up.
Sheriff Bill Wilson, why didn't you let Scott get away with his crimes like you do the rest of your deputies?

I heard another jailer got fired because he knew about it and didn't tell anyone.

He was sentenced to four years in prison.
However, here is a realistic breakdown of the "four years" this rapist pig received:
The 4 year sentence gets slashed in half upon entering the IDOC leaving 2 Years. The inmate will receive an additional six months "good time" credit = 1.5 years to serve
Inmate can complete schooling (CWT - Cooperative Work Training) while incarcerated and will receive 30 days off his sentence for every 45 days of schooling completed. An inmate is allowed to complete up to 3 schooling contracts, totaling an additional 90 days off his sentence,= 12 months to serve.
Inmate will receive credit for 78 days served in county jail: In Illinois, inmates get day-for-day credit for time spent in County Jail, turning the 78 days into credit for 156 days (approx. 5 months).= 7 months to serve.
Inmate can (and probably will) receive home monitoring or work release after serving 30 days in the IDOC.
Had he not been a member of the Sheriffs department, he would easily be looking at a 12 year sentence, easily.
