So what happens when they take the laptop they dont have internet service to do the research? Does the school fund the internet service at home to as well?

SRH,
I am sure that the school would not require the students to have Internet access at home. You can do much on a computer without having Internet. For example, many textbook companies now provide a CD with the entire textbook on it--as well as audio and video--to schools. Students who use technology for learning are much more engaged that students who learn the way we did with Big Chief tablets and fat pencils. |

Well I didnt use big chief tablet and fat pencils not talking about elementary.

Big Chief tablets and fat pencils--I meant those as a metaphor for what schools are like without technology.

Technology is great, if used properly. A lap top is no different than a text book. If you do not open it and draw from it the information contained, it is only a book or a electronic memory device.

If students work at their own pace, does that mean they do not get verbal instruction besides getting their questions answered by the teacher? That is detrimental to the development of verbal listening skills. How about learning to write? I am sure they all learned it in the elementary school, but unless you practice a skill (any skill), you lose it. There are just some basic non-technology dependent skills every human being must possess in order not to be totally technology dependent that this type of instruction takes away.

I am a teacher who uses lots of technology in the classroom, and we still do lots of verbal interaction and instruction as well was pencil and paper writing. You can do both.

Casia Hall uses laptops also.
|
My daughter has smart boards in her class- talk about the best of both worlds. I think it is great! Good for you, teacher! Thank you for all that you do!! |
|
for the price of admission to that school- they should also get one on one teachers to come with those lap tops there! Private schools should absolutely have them included in that tuition. |

Me bad, I'm sorry, I meant Monte Casino. I don't know about Casia. The only way I'm aware of MC is because my son's best friend is enrolled...by scholarship. |
