This occured at 8:00am this morning and the Police are just now asking for help?? It would seem that this should have been something put out a long time ago. There is also a school next to where this occured was it ever locked down??? I am a little confused???

I want to know how he got away being handcuffed to a waist belt and shackled at the ankles. Has anyone ever tried to run like that?? I say someone was in on his escape.

I am curious as to what type of transport vehicle this was. If it was a police car, cant they lock the doors so that the officer up front (or driver) is the only one who can unlock it? If it was another type of vehicle, couldnt and shouldn't it also be able to be secured the same way?
How can a kid escape like this in shackles and cuffs? Couldnt the driver simply leave the vehicle and chase and apprehend him at the time of his escape, regardless of where it was parked? And if, this vehicle was transporting more than one individual who was going to court, shouldnt there be two officers during this transport?
I truly am suprised that something like this could happen in the modern society we have today. One could assume something like this could happen in the "stage coach" days, but surely not in the year 2008.

Youth Opportunity Center?? You have GOT to be joking! Just how watered down are we making this world? It is not an "opportunity" center, when you break the law you lose your rights to opportunities, you go to JAIL, and if you are a Youth, you go to a jail for Youths, or Juveniles. If your an adult, then you got to prison, you dont go to an "Opportunity Center" for adults. Come on people, lets get and be real about this, making the name more "sissified" is not going to change the fact that it is a Juvenile Detention Facility, and the only "Opportunity" you are likely to see taken is the Opportunity to be Trustee or to be rehabillitated. Since 2 out of 3 "Opportunists" will have this opportunity again, maybe we should call it an "Inmate Training facility"?

It is right down the road from we're I currently attend school and it is more then just a detention center. They offer 24 emergency services to Indiana youth, there are facilities for troubled youth to stay in, and yes, for those youth who need it, they have a detention center. Youth who get themselves into some trouble are not a lost cause...they can be helped and guided in the right direction. Why give up hope? You just want to throw a kid in jail or prison (a huge difference when speaking in terms of criminal justice/corrections)...so they can get beat up, raped, and killed and lose any chance of having a positive future. Also, parents should shape up and teach their children right and wrong then we won't need facilities to do that for them.

If this guy escaped while he was chained up and shackled during the morning commute in a busy downtown area then he deserves to go free. My guess is he was eluding police at maybe 3 miles per hour. Good work guys.
