You are sighting examples of mistakes made by Motorcyclists? This truck driver pulled up WAY to close to the motorcycle...he should NEVER have pulled up so close as to have the kid in front of him disappear from view! It is SIMPLY a HUGE mistake on the truckers part which KILLED a 19 year old! I don't know if you are a father, but if this were my son I would be outraged as well as shattered!I believe this was truly an accident. Drivers do not understand the dangers around semis. There are many blind area where the driver cannot see what is around him. Over the hood of the truck is one of them. All of us get distracted, forget, or assume things. I tell everyone I can - give big trucks all the room you can. Do not tailgate, hang by their side, speed up and down, pull out in front of them, cut their braking distance. You cannot win against a big truck. I also know the dangers of riding a bike. Traffic is dangerous for us all. Please be an offensive and defensive driver.
No criminal charges in fatal motorcycle accident

If this were a female student in a VW beetle and the truck ran over and killed her. Do you think he'd be paying ONLY $130.00 fine?
If you cant be honest about that, you cant be honest about anything. |

Pulling up to another vehicle close enough not to be able to see it is reckless endangerment in it's self. What law school did the prosecutor go to? Did he get the cracker-jacks with that degree!
|
I can't believe that someone can kill someone (whether it's intentional or not) and get off with paying $130. Will he still be able to drive his truck? That would really be a crime. Forgiveness only goes so far. He is responsible for killing someone and has no consequences. |

Ok, so you mean to tell me this semi driver did not see the motorcycle when he pulled up behind him in the turning lane?! Then, when the light changed to green, and the motorcycle did not go, why did the semi driver go ahead and proceed anyway. DRIVER ERROR. C'mon, now, I don't know how many times I have been cut off by the semi drivers, in the same town, driving down 65. I can say that it is not only semi drivers that are guilty, though. Too many people in a big hurry to really go nowhere fast, nowadays, and they'd just as soon run over you as look at ya'.

Isn't that criminally-negligent manslaughter? And a $130 fine in Indiana for a biker's life? Wow.
For those of you with sympathy for the truck driver: shame on you too. Yes, the man may not have begun his day with the intent to kill a 19-year-old biker, but he did kill a 19-year-old biker due to his negligence. I have a feeling that it would have been different for the truck driver if it were a 50-year-old Harley rider under the front of the truck--not some 19-year-old "college kid". In the rest of the country that may be viewed as profiling... but a biker's life? Who are they to discount a person's existence? The officer whom issued the measly "traffic ticket" is just as guilty for not upholding what is just, and the DA's office needs to recheck its definition of which bikers are "expendable". I feel for ALL bikers and their families in Indiana. The rest of the country can now see how Indiana law enforcement feels about the value of a biker's life. Shameful. |

Thats once heck of a stiff sentence for MURDER,????????? I can hear it now, " well i seen him when i pulled up on to his rear tire a foot away, the light turned green so i went without looking for him and i apparently ran over him and killed the guy LMAO" this guy should go to jail for a while.

How do you pull up behind someone on a motorcycle and not see them?????
Sounds like someone had been up driving for 20 hours or something equally ridiculous. I realize this was an accident either way but seriously..$130.00 for a 19 year olds life???? |
|

This is an absolute atrocity. not only is "I didn't see him" a total line of crap, but this man should be thrown in prison for murder. As a motorcyclist, i see it every time I ride, and it's all too common that auto and truck drivers aren't obsequiosly vigiliant in their driving priveliges. It's proven to me multiple times a day that no one pays attention. That's just unfathomable. A $130 fine for murder.

What would being in the ROTC have to do with it? I fail to see your point, a person is a person is a person, military background or not! |

NOT FUNNY YOU JERK! |
Excuse me there is no need for all those capital letters, rude. Don't go all yelling at me for having no sympathy. |

Don't give this child the satisfaction of an argument Wayout. Punk kids like him just aren't worth the effort. |
|
Shoot who says I was looking for an argument, looks like you are foo. |
|
First of all, it should be...who says I am looking... or ...who said I was looking... If you don't know if you are coming or going, how can you comment on anything. We are not looking for an argument, just meaningful discussion, which obviously you know nothing about. Why don't you go to a chat room where they don't care what your opinion is. |
|
Dang, stuck-up snob much? By the way "If you don't know if you are coming or going, how can you comment on anything." Should have a question mark not a period, so let's make sure our own grammar is good before we *try* to look intelligent and correct others. |

I travel on I-40 on my scoot and 4 wheeler quite a bit and them good ole boys in their big rigs will pull out in front of you or maintain their position in the passing lane for 2-3 miles, alongside another big POS, before remembering to get back in the slow lane, and they don't seem to care about traffic laws or common highway courtesy. Seen it happen too many times. They oughta toss this mutha in J A I L for manslaughter.
RIP rider. |
