I think I love the food to much to complain either way. Then I think about all the times my wife an I have enjoyed the hospitality of the owners and staff. Its nice to eat in a place where the people treat you like guests. I doubt anyone even knows our names. One morning I went in early to get my wife some breakfast for her birthday. Little to my surprise, they brought out a special little birthday cake for my wife at home. That for one helped me out making a cake (LOL) but this also ment allot to my wife. Where els have I seen that as just an occasional customer ?... NOWHERE!!
I smoke occasionally. I consider myself polite. I can handle not smoking in a non smoking/eating facillity anytime. I feel its the owners right alone to determin what the want in their business.. not mine. That has no effect on my decision to eat anywhere.
Personally, I stand behind any choices the owners make. They have earned the respect of the community just as they have mine. We will continue to stop in and eat as often as we can. I dont want to hear all the bitchen about smoking or non smoking. Its nice to say hello, read the paper, enjoy the hospitality and the food. I cant say we frequent the bar area, but who knows we may pop in and share a mug sometime :)

Smoking tobacco in public is a privilege and not a right. Over the years, most smokers have proven to be obstinate and inconsiderate. That is why the human approach will not work. It is your own fault for not being considerate. This is karma. We are still the land of the free and now we are freer - from tobacco smoke. Also, the majority of the people are NON smokers. Sorry you got it so wrong.
This is one of the most ignorant posts I've read yet. Proof that some still fall in to the belief that government will take care of them. Walking in public at 4:15 in the afternoon is a privilege and not a right, PUKE! YOU walk into my house and I decide whether you smoke, crap or piss in it. You walk into my business, same story. It's my house and my business that my ignorant left wing tree hugging backwoods slackjaw friend is freedom.

Here's the problem. Lafayette should have followed West Lafayette's lead. No exemptions, everyone is smoke free. The whining smoker's will get over it, and buisness will INCREASE because non-smokers no longer have to avoid the clouds!

Freedom isn't always pretty.
But it allows you to do something that does not let one group predicate to another.
The owner of the business should handle the issue of smoking or non smoking.
I think the idea of listening to Saint Safety the patron Saint of Harassment is a slippery slope.
Once a government agency gets there hands in your pockets they will never let go.
This is nothing no more than a contrived manner to get there.
Watch out for the do gooder. Because in the end they do not do that. They will eliminate your freedoms one by one.
Beware of these type of laws. They are a method of erasing the pursuit of hapiness.
I do not want to live diapers to diapers and needlessly nagged throughout my life span
