I agree. I think that with the proper management, which this state has not seen in a long time, the fishing industry would blossom.

Too many people using too much water. All related to population pressures, how depressing.

The pressure is on from the over populated world to imigrate to California and the USA, the more the merry'er and except nature being crouded out or limit the influx...People will never limit themselves as long as they can migrate once their homeland has reached it's capacity to support their numbers, then they will say that their God told the to multiply so scr@w your laws...

I think their assumptions are based on a limited area.

Fish & Game robust......they didn't do any research this year with the season closed. How good is their science? Not good...so where did this data come from?

Nat, you are correct. I tend to look to who funds the organizations. If they require gov't money they are questionable. Then I look at who the constituent groups that formed to ask for or do the study, if all I see are big enviro then I assume the study is junk. That might be unfair but I assume that the people involved went looking for x and spent their time proving that x is is there.

Rey, far more useful people are leaving CA than moving here, the tax structure is stultifying. And the Illegals have slowed as no one wishes to pay them.

That should have read that people are looking for a particular result, not a true study, I read a lot of stuff showing correlations. But we all know thet correlations do not equal causassion

One good example of human intervention being the cause of fish depleation like Salmon and trout is along the Eel River.
They damned the river , letting water go into the Russian River .
Then Fish and Game introduced the Sqaw Fish which over the years have eaten allot of the salmon eggs.
The logging practices along the river did the rest.
Our county , Fish and Game along with the Army Corp of Engineers turned their backs as slides along the river were side cast into the river,.........tons and tons of dirt, boulders , trees and stumps went into the river causing a damn effect which slowed down the river , leaving more silt and gravel in he river..........the river widened and became more shallow.
In the summers, the river was shallow allowing the water to warm plus not having the normal amount flowing in the summer when it was mostly diverted into the Russian River, fish died from the heated water (if they could past the filled areas)
The Dam which diverts the water from the Eel River should be removed.
No logging should be allowed at all along the Rivers.
Want fish? get rid of the Sqaw fish and government intervention except to keep the loggers out.
If the railways are ever in use again and there are natural slides, the debri should be trucked out of the area all together, not side cast into the river nor put on wet lands like they did in 1994.

During the 80’s and 90’s DFG trapped striped bass in the Sacramento River and did research on them. All were weighed, measured and had scales removed for further study. A certain number of the fish were killed and their stomachs were checked to see what the bass were eating, and low and behold, it was documented that said bass were full of baby salmon and steelhead.

Want more delta smelt, long-fin shad, salmon and steelhead in the central valley and delta, GET RID OF THE STRIPED BASS.
