We just finished remodeling a kitchen. Had the good fortune of having already done a ton of comparison shopping before our contractor told us about Directbuy. We went in with our comparisons, and on our cabinets ALONE (same brand, same everything) we saved about $8,000. We estimate that on this project, we have saved about $13,000.
My wife read some reviews where people were complaining about the process for getting an appointment. I guess because we were referred to DB, that was less of an issue. Either way, their customer service staff is excellent. Absolutely recommend.

Don't you think it's weird that Direct Buy doesn't tell you the prices of anything if they're so great?
Direct Buy is a total ripoff. Their prices are terrible, plus you have to pay $3500-$9000 to join and they charge a 6% handling fee on purchases so you are actually losing money up front on top of paying way too much.
I'll stay far away from Direct Buy

DO NOT go to a Direct Buy presentation. They are big ripoffs.

Don't take my word for it. Read what Consumer Reports says http://blogs.consumerreports.org/home/2007/09...

Who should you listen to about the quality of the food?

"Don't go to that French restuarant, I drove past and the awning is ugly. The food must be awful."

"I dine at the restuarant all the time, the food is incredible."

Come on people, members love it, passers-by do not. No company can appeal to everyone. If you are buying a few things, then check it out.

Most things I have seen suggest that DirectBuy is no good. I personally have never been there but based on all of the information I would say that it is circumstantial whether or not it's a good place to buy from. If you are spending a lot of money on remodeling, then the costs of membership and fees etc. will probably end up being less than buying retail. However, if you are not spending a lot...lets say under 5K, then probably not a good idea. Also, I believe the disclaimers that you sign when you become a member have you agree that all factory warranties are voided (not a good idea).

Direct buy is a scam just like so many companies out there. My husband and I got a free pass to visit the show room. What a waste of time they dont want you to ask any questions they want you to watch video and a women reiterate over and over that you save money by joining. Of course they keep the cost of membership to the end and then try to justify the cost . The cost for 3 months is $6,790.00 can you believe this 6 thousand dollars and then some just to join.?? What a farce. And the kicker is that if you do not join that day you can never return to join at later date ahahha who the there right mind would even think of it . I compared some of the prices for certain items I see absolutely no advantage in joining Direct buy. If you are thinking of joining save your money it is not worth it. My husband and I are very smart shoppers and want the best for our dollar and trust me you will not get it at Direct Buy. DON'T DO IT YOU WILL BE SORRY YOU DID.

i have just gotten back from a presentation and i can't tell you how po'd i am !! the ad said a ''thirty day free trial ''. i took that to mean i could compare prices and see how much i could save if i did purchase !! silly me !! when i told them i was not equipped to make a 5 thousand dollar decision based on a 2 hr. talk and that i would like to try it for 30 days as per the advertisement i was told that ''only certain manufactures' were in that promotion and those manufactures were all on the ''low end''!! well they had just told me that they didn't have any ''low end'' merchants, that they only dealt with high end merchandise.. what a contradiction !! so i asked them if by taking the 30 day trial would i then be able to browse all the books and compare prices..i was told that i could only browse the books if i were a full-fledged member !! at this point my wife looked at me and i at her and we both started laughing. what a come-on and i can't believe they put these ads on t'v'!! i guess the t.v. stations will take anyone's money without verifying if it in fact legit !! we just laughed all the way out the door !! i

NO! Stay AS far AWAY from these guys as you can!!!
Direct Buy is where sleezy used car and timeshare salesmen go
when they die, on their way to HELL!
Its a high pressure carefully designed hard sell experience that will cost you 4 to 5 THOUSAND dollars and will save you NOTHING!
The only thing they want to sell are memberships. They even started their own web site that attempts (clumsily) to show themselves as legit!

direct buy is little more than a convoluted Ponzi
Scheme. we completely remoddeled a home and, now half way throughm have been unable to use Direct Buy for anything. The Direct buy staff are of little help and the vendors who are supposedly prepared to make great deals either (a) have higher prices that non direct buy vendors and/or (b) would rather not deal with a direct buy customer. we have spent about 80 hours trying to make this work. we wasted time and money. i would like to see the attornbey general investigate these guys. its a fraud.
