I moved to Brisbane which is about an hour flight north from Sydney for 6 months. Never had any allergy or asthma problems. I moved there and developed asthma nearly immediately. I have been back in Wisconsin for about 2 1/2 months and still am having problems. Not as bad though. If you do some research Australia is second to New Zealand for allergy capitol of the world. I would caution you moving there. I am starting to regret going at all. I hope over winter my body resets itself. Has anyone else been through something like this, moved and developed something then moved back?

Bob,
How long is allergy season in Sydney, and from what months. We live in the US on the East Coast and are contemplating a move. We have awful allergies and asthma in our household.

Allergies are miserable and sometimes so is the medication. I can't stand the sedation of most of the medications. I have been experimenting with non traditional remedies and think I hit on a winner. Nose washing. I've tried a number of the products and I like nasopure the best.

Claritin isn't worth the packaging it's in...Zyrtec worked pretty well for a little while, but made me SOOOOO sleepy. Allegra is pretty good, too, and I don't feel like I'm going to pass out. I use a neti pot, homeopathic nasal sprays, and local honey as well as pseudoephedrine HCL and Benedryl. One of my doctors says that nothing is as good as Benedryl. Take two at night and it helps all the next day. When all else fails, I go to my doctor for steroids just so I can breathe. Good luck, and if you hit on something new let me know!

This fall has indeed been a bad allergy season. The wetter the spring is, the worse the ragweed will be.

Get a neti pot - they're about $15 and they help alot. I've done the allergy shots, the honey (only local honey works), the Singulair, Flonase, Advair, Allegra, Zyrtec, and ALL of the nasal antihistamines. Really, nothing much helps in the way of medicine more than regular old benedryl (I use the generic). It's dirt cheap and nothing helps as well. Plus, I use a neti pot regularly. Two years ago, I was on steroids, antibiotics and inhalers every day of the month. Now, I take ONE generic benedryl at night, I cover my nose and mouth if it's windy or if someone is cutting grass, I change my clothes when coming in from outside, I use a neti pot when the drainage gets too bad, and drink lots of green tea. These are all cheap, easy things to do and this works so much better than ALL of that expensive medicine. Don't fall into that trap! Also, the neti pot doesn't have side effects like all that medicine does! It's crazy to "help" your allergies only to destroy your liver!

Daily Horoscope for November 8

Scorpio

It'll be easier to express yourself, once Mercury enters your first house of personality: difficulties in personal relationships will begin to clear as the lines of communication are opened. Don't be afraid to say what you think or feel; it's natural for the Scorpion to be a speaker of truth. You'll have a much better understanding of your own truths in the coming days.
