I don't agree with the new "types" of advertising with Google AdWords, AdSense, etc. Only a few people are able to understand how all this works, and quite naturally, they have become so lucrative that it is no surprise that people are being "fleeced." There should be a limit to the kinds of advertising used in fairness to everyone, not just to the rare few that know how to work these programs and make very good money with them, either legally or illegally. With learning how to use these programs and not even having to have a web site, again, it is no surprise that advertising on the Internet has become a "dog eat dog" atmosphere. All of these programs should be shut down as only a few are benefiting, leaving the rest of us having to pay through the nose for our "normal" advertising.

Corinne, it would appear that you're throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
First, you can easily opt out of showing ads on "Adsense" sites by "unchecking" content targeting in the edit campaign settings area of your AdWords account. It doesn't get any easier than that.
Second: you can track your results in a granular way, which all advertisers should do, and shut down or de-emphasize the parts of your campaigns that aren't working.
I don't like low-quality AdSense ads any more than you do, but you don't have to be "fleeced." There is a choice.
