I eat out a lot too just because it cheaper for one person to eat out then cook but there's nothing like a good home cooked meal.
The biggest problem I have eating home cooked food is I always cook and eat too much and I don't like to wash dishes lol

put your money where your mouth is, if we are so lacking in what you miss.

or go back where you came from because the food is better back there.

Why is there always some redneck that has to jump on someone, if they make any comment about Stone County that is not 100% yay? The whole "go back where you came from" thing is so tired and juvenile.

Yes, Stone County could use better restaurants, especially for a tourist town. Unfortunately, we will never get them as long as this is a dry county.

Progress comes when people see a deficiency and remedy it. That's okay. Just because someone recognizes a problem, doesn't mean that you rednecks have to get your panties all in a wad, and declare that they should leave.

We probably won't get a lot of new restaurants because there simply aren't enough people to keep them open...a few weeks here and there during peak tourist times are not enough to sustain a business like that.(Being able to sell beer and wine would no doubt help some though, you're right)

The local yocals do seem quick to take offfense. Mountain View is not perfect but it doesn't need to be. The observation by the newcomer is correct but you must keep in mind that it IS a small town and the tourism dollars doesn't run year round.
Will the neanderthals ever realize the benefits of going wet?
You know the difference between a methodist and a baptist?

Lutherans drink in public, and pray in private. Baptists pray in public, and drink in private.

I am not against a nice variety of good food, but y'all just need to accept that there isn't much of a choice around here and whining about it won't make a difference.

If you want food you miss make it yourself or hunt for it until you find it.

Have the folks wanting alcohol in Stone county ever give a thought that many of us were happy to come here because it is a dry county?

So instead of dragging all of us, who are at peace with the way things are here (warts and all), to where you want things to be, why don't y'all go to where all of the things you want are already available.

Life is full of choices, so try be happy with the ones you have made.

for you this the first time issue, why I have a problem with new people complain. I have seen these same issues for a long time now and you know what I have changed sides I don't a wet county and I don't want any saloons or nightclubs or private clubs that serve.

An local A/A investment would be a good thing.

I thought we could all be adults about this. Being able to have a glass of wine at a restaurant is not an indication of irresponsible behavior. The issue is one of control. Certain groups of people want to control other individual's freedoms. It's similar to the now outdated "Blue Laws" that the religious right saw fit to shackle everyone with years ago.

Change can be a good thing.

If you knew the local history, you would have known that alcohol was once sold in a part of the county.

makes one wonder why it got changed back to dry.

Change can be a bad thing.

Mountain View is need of a good sweep across the country cleaning the crack heads up. Quit slapping them on the wrist everytime they get caught with Meth or fail a piss test. Its no secret who is using it. This town is pitiful.

How many of y'all are natives of this area? Sounds like a bunch of people (not all) sounding off about this place like you actually know something. Throwing around terms like local yokels and neanderthals won't win any points in this debate.
Why does everybody have to be so damn judgemental and resort to name calling like a bunch of grade school kids? Jesus. Oh wait, I forgot! This is topix and we can all hide behind our computers. Nevermind.

Mtn View needs to let in more industry; we have a great big ol' building sitting there empty.
Needs phone and internet competition; better quality, lower rates.
Agreed, we need more choices as far as food. You can only eat so much catfish and chicken fried steak before you get sick of it. Bring back the cajun food!
Need something for the kids and families to do without having to spend a fortune or drive over and hour to do it.

Before you jump all over me and tell me to go back where I came from...I've lived here almost half my life. Granted, the view is great, and most of the folks are pretty friendly. But neither of those will pay your mortgage, fill your belly or keep your kids out of the crack houses.

Incidently, I am a native Arkansan, lived in the hills all my life; I'm just not a native to this county.

Try contacting The Computer Works out of Conway; they purchased OzComm formerly out of Leslie. They offer different competitive plans. Their microwave package works quite well if you're at a spot that can "hit" one of their tower dishes.
