was this a AD, as required by law, an E.O put out by the carrier (American) or a service bulletin put out by the manufacturer ?

An AD issued in 2006, given 18 months to comply.

So guy fly American. I hope you die in a vicious, scary plane crash and die. Heaven forbid they actually need to fix the planes. Your comment shows how low your IQ is, you dolt

Just wondering if the airlines cancelling flights are amongst those that outsource their plane repairs instead of doing them in the USA. If they do, there goes quality control. If repairs are done here, a bad reflection on our workers. Either way a bad situation for the safety of the flyer.

The unions are strangling the airline industry. The upper echelon CEO's only care about the bottom line and the profits for their stockholders and to hell with safety for the general public and the little guy. All corporations operate like this.

This country is such a mess that the word "American" has become synonymous with corruption, incompetence, stupidity and greed.

AD requires compliance, as you said. Why they waited to the last minute is poor planning.

Is that why they've basically ceased operations?

How's things in HK these days? I haven't been there in about 12 years (cripe!) but I used to spend a lot of off-time on business travel to Asia in TST at Ned Kelly's Last Stand and Mad Dogs back in the 90's...

Since when is flying dangerous for an unborn child???

Many of the planes were fixed, but not to FAA standards and had to be taken out of service a second time. Seems the FAA is cracking down in lieu of the Southwest fiasco.

Why string people along on a daily string-along? Shut the place down for a few days or whatever and be done with it.
