Teenager Allegedly Had Sex with 10-Year-Old Girl

Curtis Hamilton is one of my friends i don't think that there is any truth behind the rape charges i know curtis and i don't think he would do something like this. I could be wrong but in my oppinion people get blamed for this type of thing all the time i know people who have gotten charged with it but was 100% innocent. Maybe the girl was aggreeing to it but was just scared to come forth and say that. Im not saying that it is right to have sex with a 10 year old girl. But what if it wasn't rape what if she was willing. But never came forth. It does happen!

danny... 6 years age difference has nothing to do with it... being 10 years old does, however. i doubt that she could even have enough actual knowledge to agree to have sex. even if she did, it's still rape because of the age limits on having sex. wow... sex with a little kid like that?

btw... 16 is still adolescent. (that's what teen agers are, you know.)

according to maryland state law, the legal age of concent is 16 years old. that means that even said,'yeah, okay,' it's still rape since the boy is of legal age of concent. at ten years of age a neither a girl, nor a boy have a clue as to what they are giving their concent to... especially in the areas of sex. they are not ready mentally, nor physically to make that decision. on the other side of this coin, many believe that at the age of 16 they still aren't mentally ready to make this decision.

my dad is 5 years older than my mom, in prospectice that 10 & 15, altho my mom was 15 when they met. I think at least part blame was the parent, why was a 10 yo in a place to get picked up?

A totally disgusting act!! A 10 year old cannot make that decision. Even if she said it was ok, she has no idea what it all means. She can never have her purity back. The 16 year old boy, although young, should have more brains than that. I dont even see how it is physically possible. Cosent from a 10 year old girl is no excuse for his actions. Must be some kind of stud. Why couldn't he persuade another 16 year old. Even if he could, I still don't condone sexaul activity among minors. Sick!

Everyone just sit back, shut up and stop. Make evaluations and judgements based on logic. Everyone here (and that includes the ten year old who posted) is thinking with their mouths. You should think with your heads, using knowledge and facts, rather than talk like everyone one expects you to.
First of all: Just because it's illegal, doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Not all situations are the same, and therefore can't be judged the same way. Also, there are countless examples of laws that don't make sense -and examples of laws that should exist but don't. remember: people make laws, and people are flawed (in general) and self-centered, therefore laws can not be more than a guide.

2. How do you know the ten year old wasn't enjoying herself? And more importantly, why doesn't it matter whether she was or not? Don't just talk like it's wrong to have or enjoy sex until you reach a certain age. We already know kids enjoy the same simple pleasures (and sexual pleasure is a basic pleasure). So kids are far too young at the age of ten to be responsible for STDs and birth control. So teach the children about it, and explain everything about sex. If kids are educated, they will at least have an idea of how to be safe. In the end, kids will have sex if they want to -but they will be less inclined the more they know about sex. It also helps kids on many levels if their parents don't make them think sex or masturbation is bad or wrong or disgusting.

3. Age difference: Yes 6 years is lots to a ten year old and a fifteen year old. But the age difference will vary from person to person, as different kids develop at different rates and in different ways. Therefore, the age difference alone will not make the sex right or wrong. How each person involved feels will determine that.

4. Stating that a child of a given age can not mentally or physically be ready to make decisions about sex is rediculous and misleading. If a child wants to have sex, they know it, just as they know it if they don't want to. And how, may I ask, can one not be ready physically to make decisions? In order to not be ready physically for a mental process, there must be a significantly immature brain (ie: less than 4 years old). Please don't get readiness to make decisions confused with physical ability.

5. I do not condone child-adult sexual relations in general. However, this is mostly for the following reasons: Adults will tend to (though not always) be self-serving rather than mutually loving. Not healthy or fair for the child. Also, in this world society, where people's immediate and often only reaction to underage or incestuous sex is to say "gross, that's wrong" and confuse them immediately with rape or abuse, these sorts of relationships are doomed to be damaging to everyone involved. Hell, these days we can't even bare ourselves without shutting down a major television network or causing an upheaval in local society.
So you all may be right to say this was a bad relationship that shouldn't have happened. But realize you may also have been at least partly wrong. We just don't know without knowing the kids and how they interacted.(As an example, my sex drive began to kick in when I was 7. Before I knew what sex was. And the sex talk didn't come until I was 12 -much too late for me).

Now by all means, resume not thinking things through objectively.
