I know there was one topic discussion on this subject but I am starting another one. How can people in Mountain City sit back and know that children are being mistreated and not doing anything about it. This place is operating with no business license, the conditions are one I would not put a child in. This place should not be allowed to stay open. I feel so sorry for the children there. It saddens me that this is going on and there is nothing I can do about it. But that doesn't mean I won't try to. Children are the next generation of leaders in this world and this place is a bad place for them to be.

Are you suggesting that some, most, or all of the children who end up in Mountain Youth Academy are going to end up as "leaders in this world"?

How do they operate without the proper documentation? What deplorable conditions exist that have/had not attracted the attention of social services/state and/or local authorities?

what makes it a bad place huh where do i start? The children are abused! They are not fed enough. And when I say abused I mean by staff members to the point of having bruises. They are only housing those children for the money they don't care about their welfare or there problems!!!!!!!!!!

ok I've had enough of this one sided diss everyone I have known who worked there quit because the kids were so abusive toward the staff and the party than runs the place wouldn't let anything be done. One friend worked there for about 3 or 4 mths and was assaulted by the "little angels " you speak of at least 4 or 5 times, and nothing was ever done. The people that run the place expected him to stand back and take the verbal as well as physical abuse and not say or do anything.Yes some have problems yes some are there because of them problems ,but most are just a menace to society.I've had trouble in my life as sure as most everyone on this board has but we choose to be productive members of society and to follow the rules. This is not a place for boy scouts and girl scouts.Just think of it as Future Felons of America.

First off the place has a license posted when you enter the building, the new abministration is great the school system has improved also. MYA is trying they cannot change these kids overnight, the kids are not abused they are held until they gain control of themselfs[the holds have changed they are safe on kids and staff] MYA has a lot of people inside those doors that care about the kids.

Don't speak on something you know nothing about I on the other hand do. I worked at Mountain Youth Academy for 3 years at the time i finally had enough injuries from your so called abused children including but not limited to broken bones. I quit couldn't sleep hair was falling out and much more. I agree the place should be shut down the children have more rights then anyone they can beat the staff and the other clients as much as they want any administration gives them a pat on the back or a huge pizza party. I couldn't begin to tell you how many doors i was pushed through or how many injuries i sustained with no consequences given to those hellyons. These children are dangerous and damn sure have it made. They can refuse to do anything they want hell they can lay in bed all day and refuse to go downstairs for school or to eat. But guess what if they don't go down to eat a tray is hand delivered to them on a silver plater. The bottom line is I am so sick of people trying to state facts on something they know shit about. Instead of worring about your "abused children" you should be concerned for the staff that are there trying to help them and only being beatin and god knows what else for giving a damn.

My son spent several months at MYA due to severe emotional problems that could not be resolved after being in outpatient treatment for over seven years and he was headed down the wrong road toward juvenile detention due to no fault of his own. He had very little to complain about when I would come to visit.

I made frequent visits to the facility (as did his worker) to insure his safety. I never saw any signs of abuse of the children I saw there. Granted - the facility isn't perfect... but what facility is? It was certainly better than the alternative. Most of the staff I interacted with seemed to genuinely care for these kids.

He has been out since September and I've asked him point blank if there were ever problems with the staff and he said he never had a problem, in fact the only BCL he ever recieved was for positive behavior. Seems since he didn't have to worry about the staff or getting a negative BCL - he wouldn't have to lie.
