What's your problem with people from other countries getting a job? They have to survive. And don't even tell me that their not American's, because they might have citizenship, if not they have a green card, which means they can work in America. It sounds like you have a problem with people from Mexico. Why?

Learning to spell, punctuate, capitalize or otherwise master English is not on the To Do list of mutants like "kkk".

We need to put AMERICANS to work first. You know, the ones who have paid in taxes all their life and the ones who have fought or their family has fought for our freedom.Mexicans cause problems and we have way too many in Johnson County. It really irritates me when my child has to learn Spanish so that he may have a better chance at employment when the dang Mexicans walk around speaking Spanish.

Uh, you may not have noticed but, the Mexicans will do work that many of the Americans will not do! When we were growing tobacco crops,
we couldn't get "our" people to work, but the Mexicans WORKED!

How do you know that the Mexicans weren't born here? The jobs that the Mexicans do get if they're here on a green card are ones that American citizens will not do! Such as ditch digging or working on farms or very hard dirty jobs that a lot of Americans will not do because they can draw unemployment or disability (even though they have nothing wrong with them). I have sat in traffic when paving companies are doing road work and the Mexicans were the ones swinging the shovel while the white men stood around! I highly doubt that any Mexican is taking work away from American Citizens that pays worth a dang. If any company hires Mexicans, It's because the locals want do it!

Also, there are just as many non-hispanic people causing trouble. Stealing, killing, raping, abusing chidren and woman beating!

Get the facts before you accuse!

Thank you. The Mexicans aren't here to take over, they send the money to their family in Mexico that's going hungry. At the New Mexico, Texas state line, the slums of that area of Mexico is just a few yards away. It's terrible. Those people have to sit there and look across the boarder at people shopping and eating while they sit there with little hope. When I saw it, I couldn't believe that on one side of the fence was poverty and on the other side was wealth, just a few yards away.

Okay, so immigrants are second in line behind Americans who have paid taxes all their lives OR who have been in combat with U.S. military forces OR have relatives who have been in combat with U.S. military forces, right?

OH WAIT. No, it's not enough that they or their relatives have been in combat with U.S. military forces. That combat has to have been in pursuit of Americans' freedom. So scratch WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Granada, Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq. Americans' freedom wasn't at risk in any of those actions.

Even if we blow off your requirement for having "fought for our freedom", we're still looking for Johnson Countians who have "paid in taxes all their life". Except for sales tax, are there any Johnson Countians who have paid in taxes all their life and who now need a job at Parkdale?

Hoo-boy. It seems there may not be anybody ahead of immigrants in the line.

Mexicans cause problems? I read the sheriff's report and the court report each week. There are almost NO Hispanic surnames listed. They're pretty much all good ol' WASPy sounding names like Blevins, Dunn, Osborne, Potter, Stanley, Grindstaff, Campbell, Greer, etc.

Is there some reason your child shouldn't learn another language? Is there some language besides Spanish that you think your child would be better off learning? If you were an employer and a bunch of your customers spoke a language besides English, would you rather hire someone who spoke English AND your customers' other language or someone who spoke just English (and, this being Johnson County, spoke it poorly)?

i don;t mind spanish working at the plant.they have a right if they are a citizen.but i do think it is bad for safety reasons.most of the people out there speak no spanish.you have to communicate with each other.there is maybe two or three that can speak spanish out in the plant.they are good workers.i work with some now,but they are just like us.some will quit and some will stay..no different.i have work there 14 years and i work hard and know my work area good.it don't look good for the older workers there..

well where i was enployed, the company did this thing with saying, well the turn around here ,we just can;t make it.so here they come with 20 or so .first they put them up in motel's ,got them a day care,a company van to buzz them to and from work.and on day;s off taken where ever need be. at work given better treatment because,we needed to be nice and help them out.they would mess up we got to fix there mistakes, cause they didn;t understand.we could say nothing that might hurt there feelings, they might quit because of you.we were constantly running to get someone to understand what they were needingxxx.in the end the plant shut down anyhow with piles of there mess for us to fix. i love the mexican;s.they do work and do things we won;t they deserve our money to send back home to there family,we do ,however need a raise for our time we have to constantly train and constantly deal with ,i don;t understand.but all and all,it makes for a fun day'lots to talk about.really alot of fun days to be had by all.watch and feel for a change how it is that you'll constantly trying to make them feel at home and say ,come on now you'll get the hang of it.it'll be ok.the company will get all this money for this big hire and all;s good.and just think maybe we'll get another mexican restaurant or something like a taco bell,i love taco;s so think positive,it ant bad.really i think we;ll like it.all us forester;s testers, will;s,dunn;s,osborne; s, grindstaff's,pardue;s taylors, yea;we all good with it.

There have been at least three mexicans in the court report in this last month. Let's see....103 mexicans and 4,000 Johnson countians with the names of Campbell,Grindstaff,Osborne,Ro berts,Potter. If you will note that some are repeat cases so that the JCCH can make money with court costs. It does irritate me when I see a mexican with drivers liscense but when the cops ask him questons he stated, "no in-gi-liss.How can he pass the driver test if he cannot read and speak English?

well its not really a mexican issue ...the new plant manager wanted to bring several of his employess with him they happen to be mexican..the problem is seniority..the mexican employees have 7 years and that means that they could bump several dayshift employees back to night..this is wrong and need to be addressed with the owner..
