Christmas is a celebration of Christ's birthday. I wouldn't buy from someone who would X him out of it.

Actually, decorating pine trees is a Pagan tradition for Yule and the solstice.

Although "Xmas" is just an abbreviation for Christmas, and is usually used because of space limitations, "Christmas" just sounds so much better. I don't believe anyone actually means disrespect by writing "Xmas trees"...and as far as decorating pine trees being a pagan tradition, they are now considered an American tradition for everyone that puts them up or decorates them, and they bring a lot of joy and happiness to children, not to mention old~tyme family memories and sentimental "heirloom" ornaments. Can we please keep one of the few things in our world that make us happy as it is, and stop trying to make everything so "politically correct"? Even though my children are grown with families of their own now, we still go together as a family and find the "perfect" Christmas tree and decorate it together. It is a time we all look forward to and enjoy immensely. And in no way does it take away from our christian beliefs.

Looks like a good opportunity for a history lesson here on the evergreen tree. But, why bother.

Just my two cents here, it doesn’t matter what your faith is during this holiday season practice. The holiday ever-green tree decorating phonon has become a world wide recognized holiday tradition by different kinds of faiths and beliefs even atheist Marks a season of which promote bring people together, good will towards men, peace and generosity to human kind. This time of years brings out the best in people. But also for a few whom feel desperate and lonely it can bring out the worst in human nature. This Yule/Christmas holiday is truly about bring people together, family’s friends and strangers showing love towards one another, a time to set aside petty differences aside and give of one another, to think of others than ourselves.

Though I question why can’t we promote good will towards men, peace, generosity and kindness to all peoples no matter what the season is?

I think it comes natural to bring a good-smelling little green tree or branches into the home, whether I'm a pre-historic caveman or a Long Island soccer mom. We also bring flowers into a home, so who gets credit for this? Pagans or Christians? Ridiculous! It's a human instinct!
I also think I should feel free to call it a Christmas tree, an Xmas tree, or a Y tree, or a holiday tree, and I resent the Bible thumper police AND anyone trying to attach a "pagan" connotation to a custom.
Since mothers of newborns tend to cuddle the infant to the left chest over the mother's heart, should we call that a "pagan" practice because it began in early human history?

The idea is, why get offended over "X-mas"?
I dont think anyone would use X-mas instead of Christmas to be offensive, and why get offended if Christ isnt mentioned over a tree? Seems kind of petty. Decorating evergreens has nothing to do with religion, its simply a seasonal thing that everyone enjoys, passed down for decades before Christs birth anyway. Decorate your tree, enjoy the smell and the beauty, and forget that the sign above the tree didnt have the word Christ in it.

OK, BurnHer,
What a handle, you sorry old puke! Tell us what you have done in your life to make Christ shine! You people who come on Topix to defend all the "right" things are usually the roguish, renegade bullies who are just looking for some cause or other that will make you feel that you are even marginally socially acceptable! You probably couldn't tell us about anything good in your life. You certainly couldn't tell us the dirt OR we'd end up in the floor laughing at your defense of "Christ" in Christmas trees.

It's a tree. More worthy than either one of you.

As of right now 23 people have voted that they WOULD NOT buy a tree that had X-MAS on the sign and 4 people have voted that they WOULD.

I have always thought that I was surrounded by idiots and now I have the proof.

People it's a TREE for crying out loud. You cover it in lights and balls and put it in your livingroom for a whole month, and then you either stuff it back it the box and put it in the attic or you throw it out along the side of the road.

Why do you care what it's called when you don't even think about it for eleven months out of the year.

Let's test a theory of mine, with the data you have supplied above.

I would like to announce that I have Christmas trees for sale. These are modestly priced at 100 dollars each.

I would also like to announce that I have X-mas trees for sale. These are smartly priced at 50 dollars each.

Both categories of trees are of the same quality and come from the same tree farm.

The test is to see how soon a fool and their money are parted.

On a side note, have you ever seen any "biblical depiction of the birth of Christ" containing a tree?
