No, Carter didn't negotiate their release. Iran was p!ssed at him for what they perceived as his support of the Shah. Carter basically sat on his hands for 444 days, a period some called his "Rose Garden" days.(They felt he literally sat in the White House Rose Garden pondering the situation.) Carter was totally inept with foreign diplomacy.
There is also a lot of speculation that Reagan secretly negotiated the release, called an "October surprise." See: http://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h2021.html .
No, before Reagan took office, the Carter Administration was finally able to reach an agreement with the Iranians to release the hostages. The Iranians waited until right after Reagan had been sworn in because they couldn't resist the temptation to give Carter the finger one final time.

You're wrong. Those morons knew Reagan would attack them, without mercy. They have no spine, except when they can threaten the unarmed, aged, weak, or defenseless. They had no fear of Carter, and knew the game was over when the Republican Party took power. Ron should have bombed them anyway.

Carter had already negotiated their release before Reagan was sworn in, you idiot. Why do you think they were released the day after he left office?
They were released because they didn't want to deal with a Republican president. Dems are weak on terror...they just want to talk to the enemy...just like today's leader. Obama, what are you waiting for?

They were released as a result of the Algiers Accords, moron. Warren Christopher, who was Carter's Secretary of State, was the lead U.S. negotiator. Why don't you turn off Fox News and go get an education? Oh yeah, and that bit about having no spine? Why don't you go say that to the face of some of the Iranian veterans who spent eight years in the trenches fighting the Iraqi military in one of the most brutal wars in the history of the world? They would eat you alive if they didn't laugh you out of the room first.

When USA conducted the operation AJAX in 1953 to get rid of a democratic government of Iran and install a pro west dictator America took hostage the whole Iranian nation for 25 years, so stop your winge about 444 days and 52 people who were in all probabilities trying another coup. You reap the fruits of your labour, America has never been the inocent victim of anything wether it was Iraq, Afganistan, Vietnam, Chili, Argantina, Panama, Grenada, Lebanon, or any other misadventure they had taken in order to advance their cause regardless of death and distruction they bring about. What a load Victim.

Thank you sarah72 i am just amazed at how a country with so much resources a realtive hogh education, strong armed forces, good communication can be so easily manupulated, kept in the dark and have it's political system so infiltrated by interest groups, to a point where the truth is so manipulated that it becomes a lie and the lies become truths.
American people have a huge struggle ahead of them and I am hoping for the best outcome, but it looks bleak from here.
God bless and good luck!

Gee - Maybe because Iran knew what would happen if they weren't?

Wow - So Carter only took 444 days to "negotiate their release! He even made sure they didn't get released until after he was out.

You're the idiot.

Like I said, they were released because of Reagans takking office. The Algiers accord had no effect until the Republicans took power. I could care less about what the Iraqi's & Iranian forces did to one another, that has gone on for thousands of years, and will continue when they don't have anyone else to kill. These "people" are spineless, they fight behind women and children, because they have no respect for them. Warren Christopher was as useless as Carter was. And, you moron, you have no idea what my service record is. I doubt the boys you mention above would laugh. And, for the record, I don't watch Fox News, unless I want the truth. Go smoke a joint and talk peace to someone else.

Anybody remember what Joy Padgett,ex Ohio State senator and republican hatchwoman, liar and thief did to Terry Anderson in her campaign literature back in 02-03? Same type of deceitful lying that maligned a true hero Max Cleland by the fascist saxby chambliss(R-South America).Reagan is no hero just a sock puppet for Goldman Sucks. Were reaping the consequences of his policies to this day. Carter WAS THE SMARTEST PRESIDENT ever, he just didn't get a break from the dogs barking NO , I want you to fail. Party over country, yes that's the ticket. Arbeit macht frei, get in line and shut up.

Daily Horoscope for November 29

Aries

How you feel about your values and how your associates feel may not mesh too well today; avoid conversations about morals and scruples. Of course, you could be a politician or a religious worker, in which case you may be tiring of your own rhetoric. It's hard to be good all the time, especially when everyone else seems to be having a jolly time being bad.
