No, before Reagan took office, the Carter Administration was finally able to reach an agreement with the Iranians to release the hostages. The Iranians waited until right after Reagan had been sworn in because they couldn't resist the temptation to give Carter the finger one final time.

Thank you sarah72 i am just amazed at how a country with so much resources a realtive hogh education, strong armed forces, good communication can be so easily manupulated, kept in the dark and have it's political system so infiltrated by interest groups, to a point where the truth is so manipulated that it becomes a lie and the lies become truths.

Like I said, they were released because of Reagans takking office. The Algiers accord had no effect until the Republicans took power. I could care less about what the Iraqi's & Iranian forces did to one another, that has gone on for thousands of years, and will continue when they don't have anyone else to kill.
