I think it's just a legal way of drug dealing and seriously what can we do? I've had friends to die from taking to many, in which they didn't need the first one, I've heard ppl on topix makes excuses like "oh ,I was or my husband was in a car wreck and needs his meds" thats bs cause no one needs that much meds , given ppl with a terminal disease or condition , granted needs pain meds to be comfortable but if you have a bad back or bad knee you don't need 20 strong pills a day ,, definitely be high not just comfortable. It's sad when someone goes to dr. thats really in pain and get looked at like they are a druggie. This whole drug thing has became an epidemic and it's really scary to think what our grandchildren are going to be facing in years to come. Pain clinics , are just a legal way of drug dealing any way you look at it.

Then why is the same situation happening in Clark County that exists in Florida? Fake MRIs being accepted, records overlooked, and this "bariatric" facility is now operating as a pain clinic, too? Anyone and everyone can walk in there and get pain pills if they have any type of documentation (real or not) at all. It's become the doctor to go to from several counties to get drugs.

why is a place that "helps" you to lose weight acting as a pain clinic? when did this start up? whos the dr. thats running it? one of those in lex. that office is full up, and moved to another place to help the poor "chronic pain patients"? dont understand all this, but who does. drs and the pharmacitical companys are getting rich off this epidimic!!

I know this thread is old....
Just for the record:
I know for a FACT that this place is extremely hard to get into, and they are EXTREMELY STRICT about what they accept as "PROOF OF PAIN". My boyfriend has been suffering for many years and has been on hard opiates for over five years. Yet this clinic had one worker that really was strict- He did everything he was told- First told on the phone to get MRI- Gets there, They say, No MRI, they need Medical Records, He gets Medical Records which reflect a long term pain since 2003 or so, and then gets yelled at for not having the medical records printed up, as they were in CD-Rom format. Next he was handed back medical record CDs and something was said to him about going home, which he explained he was told to come in early on the phone which is what he did. He also brought in transcripts of being prescribed strong opiates from his previous doctor, and got handed back the forms. Honestly I hated to see him go through all of this and still have to pay $250. But, on the positive side, all of their workers EXCEPT for one was very nice and the doctor seen him for at least 30 minutes and I guess he took a ton of notes and set up an order to have a hospital scan him- So just maybe in time they can help him, but so far he is very bad off and was not prescribed anything addictive.
The worse part about it is seeing him suffer right now. The clinic ordered some kind of Hospital Scan, which he is getting next, and I pray they prescribe him something stronger than the first time because I have never seen him hurt this bad.
For anybody thinking this place is a so call pill mill, you better think again because you are dead-wrong!!

I am the person my girlfriend was speaking of right above this reply. I must say, she never told or advised me of the post she made here, but I have to admit what she said is all very true. She was seeking advise on what was best for me it seems. But it also seems few people are willing to talk on topix about certain subjects.

So, I am sorry to bump this thread, but I am extremely curious about how this clinic is doing since Dr Finch left, as was posted prior in another topix thread that I just read about. I believe it was the new doctor I seen upon my first visit, I think his name was Dr Ostrich, but I may be confused.

Somebody posted in another thread that this clinic is now NOT a good place to go to and about 100 patients are seeking a new pain clinic to go to. Gee, I just went for my first time and got my foot in the door. I would HATE to go a second time and be charged as much as $250 and be prescribed a medication as worthless as Tramadol again. It is true, with a veterinarian's prescription they sell this exact pill to the owners of sick dogs and cats, I seen it advertised online!! I am paying cash/credit card.

Please if any patients/workers of this Winchester clinic have any advise I welcome it. I have a very hard to prove pain from what appears to be a botched operation that started feeling like a knife stabbing me all of the time.

The pain has wrecked my life and cost many many good jobs because I simply could not go fast enough or keep up on every good job I have had since about 2003. Yet no test shows the reason for my pain and it really boils down to a doctor looking and my background and realize that the majority of true chronic pain patients suffer such pain often times for long term to life from simple injuries and often pain rebounds full force for years after an operation but no test can prove or disprove any single person is in pain.

I wish somebody could invent a pain measuring machine so I could PROVE what I feel without every doctor telling me they believe me, while at the same time prescribing me useless medication due to my high tolerance to opiates. My own P.C.P. was prescribing me morphine pills for many years because after many tests (back when I had medical insurance) that proved nor disproved my pain, it boiled down to him believing me. That doctor knew I was suffering but because he was so uneasy about the difficulty of proving beyond doubt I was and am in severe pain he mention going to a pain clinic to me.

I thought the Winchester clinic would study my records and years of documented prescriptions showing my high tolerance to strong opiates. Instead one worker was rude to me, gave all of my records and documented years of proof of prescribed meds and refused to even accept any of it. I had an early appointment, yet told: "Why don't you just go home" - I said I would not leave until I seen somebody because I had made an early morning appointment. Everyone else was very nice to me, especially the new doctor, but I am unsure if his name is Dr Ostrich or not. I was sent for a scan of my guts, which I did with no medical insurance. More $$$ for what good?

If any patients of the clinic are reading this, can you please advise me about the new doctor and if I should continue to go? Tramadol put me into withdrawal from my pcp's prescribed morphine pills. My pain is unreal and I worry the $250 a month will never help control my pain. All I want is my normal life back. My entire life revolves around my having a "good or bad pain day", otherwise I can not plan for anything. I know I need to stop this pain, and I often pray.

Nobody knows how much pain another is feeling. My pain has wrecked my life and I am long tired of being treated like a criminal druggie because all I want is even a small part of my previous pain-free life back. I seek advise from the current or previous patients of the Winchester clinic, please do not be shy because I really need help.

Have a pain-free day, and....

Peace.

i wish you hipocrits would shut your mouths about pain clinics. i would like to see you in terible pain and not be able to get medicin for it. you might be able to drink your alcahol, that might help some. but no you couldnt do that because its a drug too. its killed people on a daily bases for years, but thats ok isnt it, because the gov. gets threr taxes out of it, and its leagal. some drugies have died from pills sure, but they did it to there selves, no one made them take too much meds. so whats wrong with a pain clinic? so you want to talk about drugs killing people, what do you think alcahol is. how many drunks do you know? how many people have died because of drinking? to hell with you hipocrits!!!!!!!

go to dr harold rutledge in lexington. He's near new circle and wilhoite. Takes all kinds of payments and is a real doctor. I had to torn discs and was able to do steroid injections, physical therapy and minor surgery. I could barely walk before the surgery. Since I had surgey, I've Been pain free for 8 years. Cheaper in the long run. why pay $250 a month for drugs when you can make that same amount of monthly payment to a hospital for a year and have surgery and never be in pain again??
