We don't need to turn our public parks into a private venture. The loss of accountability is serious.

I hate Onorato's plan.

But, I also hate the way those in power have driven our parks to the toilet for the past decades.

There are better ways.

I call for the creation of a Pittsburgh Park District. It would operate on the model used in Illinois for their "park districts."

These are open, democratic, sunshine laws, elected trustees, and new merger of government duties driven by those who care -- and OFF OF Grant Street.
