Here's a thought. Instead of wasting negative energy on criticizing each other, the family, and residents of Camden, Why don't you all turn it into positive energy and go HELP all the other people that live in such squalor. It's sickening to see how people turn a blind eye to inner cities or only cite how much poverty there is when it suits them. It takes a village to raise a child and it will take communities to turn around neighborhoods.

It's even more sickening to see how these people turn a blind eye to their own surroundings. Why not start with them. How about every time one of them steps out side and sees a piece of litter on the ground....PICK IT UP! If they see a crime...REPORT IT! If the sidewalk is dirty....SWEEP IT! I'm tired of people trying to make others feel guilty about the poor people inner cities who need others to come in and "fix them" because they are so imcompetent and pittiful they cannot fix themselves. They need to take the initiative to do something about their own lives and there is plenty they can do.

The house has been sold. It was to much for him and his sons to keep up. Face it. The whole thing was nothing more than a puplicity stunt. It raked in plenty of tv add time and now they move on to the next family. It wasn't about them at all. Many are missing that point all together.
I live in Pennsauken. The problems that Camden faces are now moving into my home town. Many of my newer neigbors are from Camden. My town is taking a turn for the worse. Dogs barking, car alarms, loud parties, kids and those silly mufflers people honking there car horns at night for people to come out etc. And the small children are not watched by there parents as well as they should be.
I hate to use it as an example but remember those 3 little boys who locked themselves in the trunk of a car? The parents sued the police, they sued toyota and god knows who else. Why weren't they watching there kids? They should have been charged with a crime. I know it sounds heartless but 3 kids 4-5 years old running loose? Whose fault is it?

Why do people keep rehashing old news. This house already sold and the family moved out of the state. Best wishes to them and theirs.

I'm happy for them and it's a shame that some people cant feel the way I do. As my son says, " some people are just hater-tots"!

This is such old new I'm surprised people are still commenting on it. They got a house, they sold the house, they moved on. The house is now being used as a half-way house. It's over, lets all move on.

For everyone who wants to think I am "jealous"....
I am very well off, have worked hard for my money, and live in a georgous brand new house. I am not jealous at all and I feel what Extreme Makeover has done for this country is very generous. They raise property values in area's that need revitalizing along with helping desperate families in need.
I am just stating the facts that this family had 3 people above the age of 17 that could have worked a little bit to fix up there old house. How did that old house get that way? How did the holes in the wall show up? Why didn't the two older sons who were 18 go to work to help out their disabled father? Also, during the press conference the next day how did Billy Joe afford an expensive watch on his wrist and all the tattoo's you see on his arm?
This was the first show that Extreme Makeover did that left me disappointed. There are so many other families in Camden that needed a house over their head. Families with much younger children living in the local homeless shelter. I live in S. Jersey and know families that live there. Single mother's with 2-3 children that do not have a place to call home. ABC found this family from the 20/20 special. They knew 20/20 got phenomenal ratings from that episode and wanted to follow in the ratings. I just feel they should have done a little more research and picked a better family.
Shana - They could not do much to their house for the following reasons - 1. It is a rental - The owner of the house is supposed to repair things in the house, not the tenants. 2. The father was on disability, and the children probably could not get decent enough jobs, and junior wages are not that much. Why don't you try living on the same amount of money before passing judgement on others. It was mentioned on the show that the older boys pick up work wherever they can to help, and the watch was probably an imitation. It's great that you and your family have a lovely house and work hard. With not a lot of education and job opportunities, its very hard to survive and raise 5 boys. The family probably were paying a lot in rent, had hardly any money, but were rich in the most important things - Family, Love, Respect, and Trying to Help others. How many can say they have a family like that? So poor yourself, but still give to others. Walk in someone else's boots instead of assuming what they could be doing, before being so judgemental. I am a single parent on disability too and have not much money for anything either. I know what it's like to live in poverty. It is not easy. I actually feel sorry for you, as you feel you have to be negative about someone else in a bad situation to make yourself feel good. Good on Extreme Makeover and good on the Marerro Family.

This was one of the most touching shows on extreme home makeovers I've seen. I hope this family is still doing great!!!
