These activists are always over the top! Never rational thinkers. They seem to think that animals, plants, etc. always have more rights than humans. This guy and many like him need a hobby! Isn't there anything more serious in life going on than this for him to focus on???

"They seem to think that animals, plants, etc. always have more rights than humans."
Where in the article does he say this? How is this comment even relevant to the topic of native flora in a state owned preserve? Maybe someone else needs a hobby too...

This guy tried to run for a city council seat in Malibu several years back, it seems that he wasn't a resident but one of those "I hang my hat there from time to time". He is one very wild cannon that really causes a bit of trouble wherever he goes since he seems to feel he is on some personal mission appointed by higher powers. Do a little more background checking on him, he destroys state lands in Carrizo Plains, cuts down trees at will per his inner standards against laws, and just causes general mayhem in the name of preserving nature. He is one of the fools that gave birth to the term "Eco-Terrorists" and he is pretty much the poster child for that movement. He'll just never be happy, never be satisfied and never get paid. I wish that these types could focus just once on the positive things that have been achieved rather than screaming about the loss of their personal utopias - I sure wouldn't want to live in their version of the world with them in charge. Thank Heaven that he has not achieved his goals, and especially his failed election campaigns in Malibu and other areas. One bad apple, paired up really tight with Calif Coastal Comm Sara Wan too....gotta wonder why we feed these fools off our taxpayer dimes.

This titmouse of a human being was only interested in what matters to him. He's a liar and a whack. Thank god a quasi - government agency has finally told a 'squeeky wheel' to SHUT UP AND GET LOST.

I think the gentlemen is sincerely concerned. But I also favor the removal of non-native species from wild areas (...including Bellona, more of a reclaimed habitat). They do immense damage, but are often nice to look at and people have issues getting rid of them. Activism alone is not enough: does this person possess a degree in biology, botany, forest managment - etc.? I support the authorities this time for realizing that the road to disaster is often paved with (human) good intentions. My advice: let it go - plenty of swamps back east if you like them that much.

They should be building condos there anyway though.
