I noticed, as I drove by on Rt. 541 in Mt. Holly yesterday, many Police Officers pulling over cars and walking on foot in between driving lanes looking at cars driving by. I was curious as to what was going on and for what purpose these Officers were out by the dozen in that particular area?

It's part of the annual "Click It or Ticket" program intended to encourage drivers and their passengers to comply with seat-belt and child restraint laws.

Actually, its part of the daily "Lets rape our residents of all they're hard earned money" program, and at the same time, mask it as "we're keeping you safe" wink, wink with the eye. NOW GIMME ALL YOUR MONEY YOU NON-SEAT BELT WEARING SONS OF A BITCHES!!!

Must you spew your idiotic, vile and barely literate fantasies while quoting my factual post?

During the "Click It or Ticket" period more than 97 percent of the New Jersey drivers observed are buckled up. But there are still that few who not only fail to consider their own safety, but endanger their children as well.

In a month or so the state will release the results of the campaign. One of the likely findings is that the grants to the various law enforcement agencies exceed the total revenue derived from the citations issued.

And the societal cost of the avoidable injuries is what's coming out of taxpayers' pockets, not to mention the impact on various insurance premiums.

Can't the paranoid cynics who don't know the difference between "their" and "they're," and "its" and "it's" spare us exposure to their dementia?

BLAH,BLAH,BLAH...Your screen name fits you well. In a few months, the state will release the falsely reported results of the campaign in order to support future extortion attempts in this liberal corrupt state. The only peaple with dementia are those like yourself who think the public doesn't know whats really going on when Law enforcement smiles and says "safety first"....,NOW DIG DEEP IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND GO PAY THIS CITATION,CORZINE NEEDS ANOTHER HOUSE!

Liberal bashing is out of fashion, limited to the shrinking pool of borrow-and-spend Republicans and paranoid Libertarians. But "Extortion" lags behind. He hasn't even caught up with "spellcheck" yet.

The previously used "name" was merely a comment on your post, fool, as the text made clear.

I never made fun of your "grammer."

The main reason the current administration has had to appropriate funds to date is in an effort to rescue an economy in shambles, or haven't you noticed?

Borrow-and-spend as a fiscal strategy grew out of what one Republican presidential candidate called "voodoo economics." It abated somewhat when that candidate succeeded the standard bearer for the "trickle-down" theory, but his lips were out of sync. The next president left office with a budgetary surplus.

He was followed by the most incompetent and unprincipled individual to serve in the presidency in modern times, and his very election was tainted. Taxes were cut, mainly for the wealthiest 10 percent of the population, two budget-draining wars were undertaken, one of them planned prior to the election for the purpose of personal aggrandizement, and the regulatory and oversight functions of the government were gutted during his administration. The cost of his forays abroad and domestic tax policies were financed by a staggering increase in borrowing. Meanwhile, greed and stupidity, a volatile mix, scuttled the financial sector and undermined an economy based on credit.

Even cursory analysis clearly demonstrates that it wasn't only the government that adopted the borrow-and-spend tactic. But the prediction that generations will be unable to cast off the burden of debt that existed when the current president took office and is now being multiplied defensively is of the Jean Dixon variety, meaning that it has a five percent chance of being accurate.

And all this invective stems from a simple question about traffic and a straightforward answer! Give it a rest. You only confirm your amateurish ability to grapple with reality.

I suspect you don't have the temperament to desist. Therefore, I vow to ignore any additional Extortion distortion. May others chime in.

I agree with Extortion, the Seatbelt Law is a giant money making machine for townships, ask lawmakers why 40 million kids can ride a schoolbus twice a day without seatbelts!

New Jersey was the second state to pass a school bus seat-belt law. There are several reasons why the NHTSB hasn't mandated them on all school buses nationwide, but they are required on the smaller ones. Among the reasons are what's called the "222 seat," which, in its ideal configuration compartmentalizes the passengers in a padded environment. Another reason has to do with the problems associated with children of different sizes. A third has to do with the overall safety record of school buses. There are many more.

Almost all of the revenue from fines for traffic violations goes to the state in New Jersey. The amount that municipalities get to keep doesn't even come close to paying a fair share of the cost of running a municipal court system, much less a police department. And since most citations are paid without a court appearance, there is little revenue from the assessment of "court costs." Municipalities get to keep the fines for most parking violations, but in most places that doesn't amount to much. It is only in certain metered or shore towns that it is a substantial source of revenue.

It really does help if opinionated posters take the trouble to check their facts before potentially misleading others. Next thing you know someone will proclaim that "GLOBAL WARMING IS BALONEY." We smart-asses know it's "BOLOGNA."

Did you use "Boy" as a racial thing -- if so it just shows where you are coming from -- sad to think we have that kind of folk here.

The Bush Administration did not even count the wars in the budget -- a piece of cooking the books so no one knew how much he was charging to the next generation. At least this president puts it all out there. The cost of the Iraq war -- unprovoked and never really explained because his advisors told him there were no WMD -- is $670,471,164 (so far). Would have bought a lot of healthcare. The Bush administration let Wall Street go wild and cut any funding to rein them in and hold anyone accountable for almost anything. From the FDA to the banks. From tainted peanut butter to your 401k. He brought down the financial underpinnings of our country and the whole world and this president is trying to clean up after him.

Thanks Obama. You really F'D us up. And to think, only 60 years ago, you would have been spit shining my shoes and making my family's biscuits and gravy. This country has certainly taken a turn for the worse. We gave them too many rights and priviledges and look where we are now!

Have you ever visited a rehab facility for TBI patients? A large portion of their population is composed of car accident victims; a large portion of THOSE people will tell you two things: 1) They WERE wearing their seatbelts, and 2) They much rather would have died than live a troublesome, depressing, lonely half-life full of struggle and pain. I was employed straight out of high school in such a facility and I haven't voluntarily worn my seatbelt since. I've seen what seatbelts can do and I'd rather die than end up a gork for the rest of my life.

My personal prejudice aside, I think its a bit too 'nanny state' to force me into protecting myself. Do I think children should wear seatbelts? Indeed I do; they don't cause accidents, they are just victims of them, and have to face the consequences of a crash caused by the actions of someone else. The adult, though? Unlike a child whose life has been endangered by the driver, the adult is responsible for what they have done to themselves. Its as stupid in that context to punish people for choosing to risk injury to themselves as it is to declare the act of suicide a crime. What shall we legislate next? Hang gliding? Those triangles are so POINTY! Outlaw plastic surgery altogether? I dont recall Joan Rivers getting tossed in the pokey because of her self-imposed disfigurement, but correct me if I'm wrong. After those resolutions, we'll attack scuba divers (those daredevil bastards!) and the Ice Road Truckers (how dare they?). Oh, and lets not forget my favorite: The Pope. Dude doesnt want to be assassinated, so he gets himself a bulletproof Popemobile. Great job, Pope-y McDontshoot...where to next, Iraq?

You have no problem condeming people now but if we allow them to legislate private behavior today, they may just come for you when they get around to banning something you care about. You'll sing another tune then, I'll bet.

I think it starts out, "Woe is me...."

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Aries

In recent weeks you've been quite concerned about a loved one, and things are likely to come to a head as Mercury turns in your mid-heaven. You may be able to solve the problem simply, which will be a relief all round, but there's a chance that you may have to do some serious thinking or get some expert advice before you know exactly what your next step should be. You may have to take official action of some kind.
