1 If you love Mt. Holly please watch what you say on this site. I have read this site and we look like a bunch of idiots. I have read other towns and we are the worst. If you have a real issue and facts to back it up go to the paper or council directly. This is not the place to air dirty laundry. Thanks. |

Um...isn't that what voting is? How can it not be true. If people didn't get out and vote, they have no right to complain about who is in office. |

1 I don't vote. On Election Day, I stay home. I firmly believe that if you vote, you have no right to complain. Now, some people like to twist that around.(Mostly Liberals) They say, "If you don't vote, you have no right to complain", but where's the logic in that? If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent politicians, and they get into office and screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You voted them in. You caused the problem. You have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote -- who did not even leave the house on Election Day -- am in no way responsible for what these politicians have done and have every right to complain about the mess that you created. |

Disagree- In a way, that makes alot of sense.

1 Are you serious? Maybe if you voted for who was elected then you should not complain, but if you voted, at least you cared enough to take some action, and cast your vote. If you do not vote, then you either do not care or you are too lazy and do not want to take the time to research the candidates and make an informed decision to vote for the person or persons that you think are best for the positions. We all are responsible for an elected official's actions once they are elected to an office. If they are not doing the job, then vote them out the next time. |

I have been critical of Jim Hope and Bryan Hough for their terrible waste of Mount Holly tax payer money in their previous temrs. We are all familiar with the WhiteWater Park giveaway, Bryan Hough's getting a piece of the MH Employees benefits package, Hope part in the $450,000 ABC land boondoggle, and I am sure there were other things that these two did that weren't in the best interest of ALL Mount Holly taxpayers. However, since they were elected by 10% of MH voters and they are now in office, I will give them a clean slate for now. If they can repent from their ways of the past, that is looking out for themselves and not for all MH taxpayers, I will support them. If they continue their ways, I will continue to shine the light of their narcissistic ways. |
||||
Watch what you say? You sound like one of those people who is worried about appearances? You know, the Citizens Center, having MH's name on the WhiteWater Park, a pretty streetscape (whether it was done right or not). The truth is the truth and we do no one any favors by covering up all of the wrongs that were done with the give away of MH taxpayer money to the Mecklenburg County White Water Park and the purchasing of a $450,000 piece of land that's not even worth 20% of that. Sorry, lady, Mount Holly is not made up of rich people who can throw away money carelessly. If you really drive around through all of MH's neighborhoods you will see that these are hard working people who deserve to have their tax money spent wisely and not foolishly. I will give Hope and Hough a chance, but if they continue their ways, I will shine the light. |

Sorry about the triple post, had a little more to say.
Peace. |

I understand your sentiment but hopeful at best. Rarely do adults change behavior after a certain age. We are who we are. The individual actions going forward will still stem fromm misguided, misinformed points of view. Our hope was to have new and fresh strength, we didn't do that. And I did vote so I do have a right to complain. Hope is still for himself, Bryan is still cocky and arrogant, Moore is still a puppy that does what the masters say. So what has changed. So those who voted them in, you get what you deserve. My house is for sale, I cannot take this anymore. To keep doing the same ones over and over and you expect them to be different for some divine reason is insanity. |

I feel your pain. I was so hopeful that people would at least vote someone new into council. I see this town as nothing but a place of special interests. If you think about it, what is Mount Holly? Is it StoneWater development, Kendrick Farms, Runneymeade, Autumn Woods, River Front? I should think not? These people really don't have anything to do with MH, if they did, Hope and Hough wouldn't have been re-elected. MH is run by small group of citizens who belong to a select foundation.
I will be joining you and putting my house up for sale as well. Have had enough. |

Mount Holly will continue to be run by the special interest groups. The ones who really don't know what is like to struggle financially. I believe we have seriously done ourselves injustice by not putting Mrs. Harris in office. She wants and would have worked for what the majority of our city needs. Not just what a few select people want. So many people that I ran into were voting for Hough because of his education. A UNC grad... Well, are you happy now with Robert Whitt? I do believe he has an education. Education does not gain you heart and good judgement. Good luck Mt. Holly!

What you say makes perfectly good sense. The largest problem we have is we tend to believe the lies the elected officials are feeding us. Why should anyone that has has been in Congress the past eight years be reelected or maybe at least 90% of them. Look at their voting record and the mess they helped create. |
