Who was the genius that made the decision to offer both football and baseball at the same time?

What is wrong someone doing that? It gives the kids more of an option of what to play. I know many kids that would rather play baseball than football, but because the towns would only offer football in the fall they were stuck playing a sport they didn't really care about.

As long as the kids are having fun and learning sportsmanship, what does it matter?

Change is good but be smart about it. Why in a recession should football cost $85?

I know alot of people that went to other leagues that cost alot less.

There is no reason the fee should be as high as $85 dollars not counting the additional fundraising or opt out fee you will still have to pay.

It's alot of money especially for parents with more than one child!

Actually, none. The boys playing this fall will only make up one team. It isn't going to be like the spring season where there is numerous teams. The boys playing baseball are avid players that play every year in the spring. They only played football because there was not baseball team in the fall. Mt. Holly is not the only organization with lower sign-ups this year. McAdenville is down this year, too. I believe the economy has hurt alot of families financially and it just isn't in their budget to do extracurricular activities. I think having fall ball is a great idea. It will help keep kids active and not be prisoners of the almighty XBOX, PS3, or Wii.

Insurance, cost of refs, cost of lights during games, and equipment are just a few costs that mount up each year. The optimist club does not make a profit from any registration fee. That's why participating in fundraisers are so important. When parents WON'T participate in fundraisers - the financial obligation falls back on them in the long run. It's not hard to sell a box of peanuts or a raffle ticket. I must admit, Stanley has an OUTSTANDING group of parents that support not only their child/children, but everyone else's when they do their part. Their cost is $0. ZERO. It could be like that in MH...if parents wanted it to. It only takes alittle effort to make a huge difference. Right, Stanley people? Kudos to you guys...you deserve it.

If you pushy controlling ladies weren't so bossy more parents would volunteer. All you do is complain about who doesn't volunteer in the concession stand. You know who you are! Lights, refs so so and so on. The Optimist has more than 30k in the bank they could have lowered the cost this year. How does the Optimist give back to the community. Awards banquet (hamburgers and chips) is giving back. Boo Whoo! Give us a break!

So Stanley has great parents and Mt Holly doesn't is that what you are saying MH mom? Wow, I know for a fact that my team's parents volunteered so give me a FU@#ing break already with people not volunteering. That's BS. Parents are not appreciated in MT Holly that's the bottom line if you are not in the inner circle they don't appreciate you. Last football season you've had the most volunteers in the concessions stands EVER, so stop spreading lies about parents not participating. Treat the parents with respect and maybe they will be willing to give more. Instead of always complaining about them and talking about them like little school girls.(you know who you are)

As for Stanley like you stated $0 sign up in turn the parents give willingly of their time, has the Optimist even tried something like that? Absolutely not! Well, new President great job. Great decision marker you are.

I've heard this same B.S. for years now about how it takes a million dollars each time you turn on the lights at the MH middle school football field. I will bet big money that no one knows exactly how much it costs to turn those lights on, there is no seperate bill to MHO for turning those lights on, and the cost of turning the lights on is exaggerated to elevate the registration costs.

And, take it from someone who knows, working in the concession stand with Cona and the rest of the Concession Nazis is no fun. If I want to be demoralized, I can go eat at Dick's Last Resort.

At least another parent who knows the BS these people are throwing out there. The new Concession Nazi it's Cona, the new crew ran her away. All they do whine, bit@% and complain. So give us a real figure for turning on the lights and for the month of August how much do you use the lights, 90% of Saturdays games are during the day so really how much are the lights?

30k in the bank people. How can other leagus offer the same for less?

Last time they had that much in the bank, they started paying off personal mortgages. That's a fact that MHO cannot dispute.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Sagittarius

Be careful about what you eat and drink today, my prancing Archer. Your body is in a sensitive state, so be well advised and steer clear of anything that might upset you, or to which you're sometimes allergic. Avoid anyone who's a one-man germ factory, in case a few bugs happen to jump out and over to you. Right now, you could do without it.
