Because they will be saving or protecting your ungratefull a$$ when you are attacked, or raped, or when your children are abducted, etc. They don't always have time to sit and watch traffic lights or give speeding tickets. They are great need of help and the cameras give them that.
Police men and women aren't just traffic cops, we would need an entire force just specifically for that. They protect and serve us and our tax dollars should be paying their salaries. We should be thankful that our officers can be patrolling not sitting at a traffic light and writing tickets. |

If they didnt see his plate or pursue him how do they know it was him???

Amen to you! I am all for the cameras. I received a ticket in the mail for running the light on Cedar Bluff Road, but I knew I was guilty and I paid it. I think it will definitely help with a lot senseless accidents. Especially with our young people on the road. |

Welcome to Communism. Where "the trees will be kept equal, by hatchet, axe, and saw".
We are allowing our children to be enslaved. I bet a potato gun would take care of these devices. http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Original-... |

so speeding is now going to be a "civil" offense? Probably at least until you challenge it in court then it magically shifts because you dare challenge supposed authority.
BTW digital cameras are easily blinded by bright IR, as in bright IR LED.s...bright IR LED's around a decorative license plate frame. Look at the LED on a TV remote through a digital camera (still camera, camcorder, cell phone) and press a button. You will see a pretty bright flare from the IR LED (which can be purchased easily and cheaply) i.e. http://my1.photodump.com/574250/040208_1138b.... (taken with cell phone). Also focusing a single bright IR source on a plate will prevent digital images, but it has to be a really "bright" source. Myth Busters did one on speed cameras and I found it interesting that one of the only "sure fire" methods of beating the cameras (AKA IR LED's) wasn't tested. And for the "experts" that will inevitably chime in; have you actually tried experimenting with this? I thought not. |

isnt that public service, they should thank him, cus to test it means they have to pay someone....

Very well spoken! I am all for supporting our police officers. It is great to have the red light cameras ticketing people who are trying to "squeeze" through a red light. My parents were T-boned in an accident where somebody did just that. I'm hoping there will be more cameras in place soon. |

1 You are definiely not a linguist. And I would bet money that you love being a "good boy". I bet you like the cameras. I would even go so far as to predict that you have no problem being watched and logged and searched, because in your mind, it keeps you safe. |

1 Yeah - Cameras will do about as good as Police are able to do. Show up AFTER the fact. Screw cameras - Armed citizens works. And I hereby hope people start using these on them. http://www.youtube.com/watch... I dont need my behind wiped by you, kept safe by you, or watched by you. Thanks but no thanks. |

At least the cops didn't chase him and cause a needless wreck this time. They apparently have more sense up there. They do need these cameras speeding is getting way out of control, and the cops are neede to protect people from criminals not sit and look for speeders. And no I'm not perfect I've had my share of speeding tickets, but with knowing there are cameras it makes you watch the speed.

I really don't mind the red light cameras, except that I have been in some close calls from people locking up their brakes. The yellow light turns just as you are starting across the line...of course that means lock it down or get a ticket. As for the speeding cameras... GREAT! Isn't that a violation of my rights somehow? Not that I am speeding, but because the camera is "watching" me anyway and thus violating my privacy? Just asking
