Has anyone ever been to the Decorator's Warehouse in Johnson City and Bristol? If i wanna go when it opens, i'll know what to expect.

I heard yesterday from a reliable source that the Kingsport Best Buy is currently set for a March 2009 opening. I also heard it will be a 20,000 square foot building which would make it the same size as the Bristol store.

Did this reliable source say that it was going to be built right in front of Dick's. If they did, then i'll keep my eyes open for any construction here in the next few months.

1 Something also to look out for is the closing Goodies store in the commons, such a large store could house quite a few things people have been wanting, Bed Bath and Beyond could be one possibility. I would hate for such a new retail development to go with such a large empty tenant for too long. The Panera Bread in reedy creek terrace is planning to open in September. I find Phase 2 of the development at the Pavillion interesting also. If they are really going to start by coming out from New Beason Well there should be as much if not more property there than the current Phase 1 site, i wouldnt be shocked if this comes out much larger than expected. |

1 Yes, Best Buy will be up front from Dick's. Now come on Kingsport or JC let's get an Apple Store, I would be a happy camper then! |
Hell Yeah. It would be awesome to have an Apple store right here in Kingsport. If they open one in JC before it does here if they come up with one, then i probably wouldn't mind driving up there if it wasn't for all of these gas prices.
I didn't think about Bed Bath and Beyond being there. It could be possible. Goody's and Bed Bath and Beyond do look about the same size, so I don't see why it wouldn't go there. |
Daniel, if they say that Best Buy will have a March 2009 opening, then construction should be starting about any time soon like in the next 2 months since they have a lot to do, like measuring it out so they'll know how many bricks and all that good stuff. |
It would be really cool if Hooter's, Ruby Tuesday, Johnny Carino's, or Logan's Roadhouse could be part of the Kingsport Pavilion lineup. I was just thinking of that a few minuites ago.

I have a question about the Kingsport Town Center. When they rebuild this place, will JCPenney, Belk, Belk Home Store, and Sears still be there or will they be built at another place? If they had to build new stores, they should put them at the Pavilion.

HELLO, IS ANYONE OUT THERE? I asked a question and i want an answer. PLEASE.

Finally got an official announcment. Im looking forward to Best Buy and some competition for Circuit City

This is excellent, nothing new we havent known for a long time. But its good to get confirmation. I do know the exact size of the one in JC but im lead to believe it is 30k SQF.
I'm no longer concerned about the size, the lot looks small but that can be deceiving. The space needed for electronics is smaller and smaller, plus hopefully they will completely drop any appliance sections. The article also said it will follow best buys modern model, so no real concerns there. Jacob, i do have an answer. And i was about to post it long ago, but after your last comment, i decided to wait a while. Besides its nothing that you wouldn't already know by reading the times news. Ill post later tonight. |

Thank you, and sorry about that. I hope it wasn't rude or anything. I just haven't had any news in a long time.
The Best Buy is said to open in early 2009, which kind of sucks because i'm ready to look around there. Does anyone know what Decorator's Warehouse is like. I know that there's one in JC when Hill's and Ame's went out of business, but I never knew what they had. |

As far as the mall. The current plans is to start heavy renovations this year. I except this to turn into something much like the East Stone Commons. Hopefully the mall will be completely gutted. As far as anchor tenants. I have heard the current plan calls for the JC Penny building to be demolished and a larger JC Penny store be built farther into the currently unused parking lot, making it disconnected from the rest of the mall. Sears has been renovated, i dont expect tons to change there. The Belk homestore was also completely redone many years back, likely not much going to change there either. The main belk could see alot of renovations however. But renovations of any of the main anchor tenants is seperate from the rest of the mall.
The only major expansion to the actual mall i know of right now is out from the current main entrance to the mall, the side with the theater. Out towards sears. How far it will go i have no clue, i would hope all the way to the end of the sears building, as that would be a major expansion.I would not expect such an expansion to net tons of additional shop space, as the sears entrance will likely stay put, and the new male entrance would probably take a lot of the length of any expansion. There are also plans for many out parcels on that side of the mall also. There's going to be alot of parking trouble if thats how everything goes. I hope if the JC Penny building is demolished that the mall be expanded some in that direction, ideally the location of the food quart, and have most of the main parking be on that new side, alot like the Ashville mall. It would be about the same distance to the theater. All in all the mall should be bigger than the current Johnson City mall, an additional 150k-200k SQF is to be expected out parcels included. Its not a "whole new mall" unlike most people ive talked to believe, that would be nice. But hopefully the expansions and heavy renovations will bring in alot of tenants we are seriously lacking. |
well, like the asheville mall, it should have like a parking garage as well. It MIGHT be a lot easier that way, but it wouldn't really look right.
By the way, Nate, where is the unused parking lot? Is it near Memorial Boulevard, or wherever it is? |

I was just wondering if there has been an official announcement for Petco and Staples joining the Kingsport Pavillion. I know I saw a map with those stores listed, but have yet to hear the official word. If not, wonder how long it will be before they give the official word on them.
There was a saying, Kim, in the Times News article when they said that Decorators Warehouse was going to be part of the Pavilion that the Staples and Petco will be right beside Decorators Warehouse, so they basically made the official announcement.
Thank you very much, Jacob. I must have overlooked that article. The article I read didn't actually give the retail names with Decorators Warehouse, just said other retail developments. Thank you again for your information.
no problem, and i must say, welcome to this forum. Have you ever been to Decorators Warehouse in Johnson City? If you have, i'd like to know what it's like, that way if my mom goes and i wanna go to, i'll know what to expect.

There wasnt an official announcement on the petco and staples but it was on a map of the development some time back that showed petco ,staples and best buy. here is the article from the timesnews that talked about decorators warehouse but i didnt see anything about the other two in it. It just said other retail outlets.
