I apologize for the length of this. I’m hoping this will end the disgusting bulk of postings from Jason Rice and all his aliases. Anyone who shares a different opinion has been called in various postings,“haters, idiot, liars, slanderers, and cowards who obviously have nothing on him and are full of crap.” They’ve even used the word “unemployed” in a derogatory way - speaking volumes about their character, particularly in these tough times – to which the Rices are no strangers. Shameful!(BTW - does this mean that all four of the Rices who've posted here are gainfully employed?)
Ironically, however, it is Jason Rice and his minions who are, at best - terribly misled and duped and/or, at worst – liars and slanderers themselves.

They say slander is a "serious crime." They say, "It is clear that none of the lies about him are true and can not be proven."  "All we care about is truth," claims his wife.  Well, let's take a closer look at which of these postings have been lies and which have been true. Remember, this is just from LA County. He’s moved so many times across the country – who knows what other lawsuits he's left in his wake. Jason may claim these are not him, however, all but 2 include his middle name and/or specify "DBA Agape Health and Fitness" in the summary.(And one of those 2 is his former landlord's suit against him.) He may point out that many of these cases were dismissed. Well, that’s not exactly the whole truth, is it Jason?(btw: he’s good at not telling the whole truth). He’ll leave out the part about how they were dismissed due to his running away in a cowardly attempt to evade responsibility and avoid getting served. But, you read and decide for yourself.

In his craigslist posting, he gave some lame excuse about moving due to struggling studios (do they coincide with lawsuits?- hmm...). But this doesn't explain why he FAILS to notify courts and plaintiffs, leaving them the arduous task of searching for his whereabouts. Someone who's been sued this many times can't claim ignorance. And please don’t be fooled into thinking that this is just "stuff from the past" as he may also try to claim. Another hearing is set for 11/17/09.
When you look at all these law suits coupled with the “We’re Christians who love Jesus and we only want to help people” declarations, I have to ask myself,“Is this what Jesus would do?” Yes, bad times can hit anyone and Christians are not immune. But running away from debts and responsibilities does not bring glory to His name, especially when you lie about it or blame others when YOU fall short. You’ll notice he rarely, if ever, points that finger back at himself for anything that goes wrong. It takes courage to admit when you’re wrong, but according to the spin-gospel of Jason Rice – it’s never his fault. But, that cavalier veneer of his is cracked and the coward is revealed.

His record - legal and ethical - hardly qualifies him to be anyone’s ‘lifestyle coach’– not when he's still unwilling to own up to and be humbled by his own current hypocrisy. He may try to tell us (or get another Rice to tell us) that he’s not a litigious person and doesn’t want to take the hundreds of people who have wronged him to court. He might say that all of these lawsuits are baseless (even though he runs from them; even though he's never won). He’ll wonder aloud why some of the people he’s helped have left him or failed to give him credit for their success (which he thinks he so richly deserves). He may even try to spin some silly spiel about how he doesn’t care about what a court of law says, just the court of God. He’ll try to spin it to bring glory to himself.(AAA was right about his Jesus-complex!)

Well, to all that I’ll use a word he’s often used on others: repent. Jason Rice: STOP using Jesus’ name in an attempt to hide who you are. You're making a fool of yourself. And, before you go and start comparing your ‘persecution’ to that of Jesus'– don’t.

AGAPE gym just closed this past Friday. I understand that Jason (the wolf in sheep's clothing was out just the week before at Octoberfest selling memberships.

Perception is that this guy was nothing more than a CON MAN!. A couple of month's ago he suddenly and without notice sold all of the equipment inside the gym leaving it pretty much bare bones. When I asked Lauren about it she couldn't give me a straight up answer.

Thank goodness I only had 1 month left on my membership. But my wife had just renewed for 3 month's and is now out 100.00. I wonder how many other unwary souls lost their money to this charlatan.

And Jason portrays himself as a man of God. People like him give the Christian community as a whole a bad name. PATHETIC.

Thanks for the update, Bill. Unfortunately, I´m not surprised he was selling memberships one week before the closing - SHAMEFUL. He´s on the run again for sure... if you or anyone else out there knows where he´s going, PLEASE make it public.

Jason Rice used many different names to begin this topix thread and at least one other. All the AOL and Atascadero postings (probably one from work, the other from home) were undoubtedly from him. He roped his wife and parents into it, too (although, I'm not sure how innocent they are in all this).

I'm just sorry I never read any of these Topix forums about this Jason Rice guy before my wife and I joined Agape. We now have joined a new club (SnapFitness) in Nipomo as have ALMOST ALL OF Agape's CLIENTS, and the same stroies are being told.
Here's a WARNING to all who were conned by Jason and his wife. If you paid by check or with a credit card for your membership at Agape in Nipomo, you'll need to keep an eye on your banking accounts. Especially if you authorized auto debit of your account.
I talked with a woman who had also been a member of Agape, and she said that it is very possible that at some time in the future (if not now), monies could be debited from ones account by Jason not only from the use of a credit card number, but from using the routing number of a check used to purchase membership. I am calling my financial institution today to get some facts, especially about the use of a check routing number because I wrote a check out for my membership.
I'll post info regarding what I find out later.
Right now there are an awful lot of upset people and my understanding is that Jason is currently training out of his home in Nipomo. Some are actually taking legal steps in an attempt to recover lost money in this scam.
Funny thing. I've heard lots of stories of people being scammed by con-men. It never happened to me until now. I always thought that I was "smarter" than to be duped. Well, I'm not. Jason was very charming and what I thought to be informed when I first met him. He also espoused his Christianity. So, based upon these things and his vision for the future of the club, I joined. My wife actually had been with World gym in the same location prior to Jason taking over. She also thought he was a great guy.
After awhile though, I noticed a change in Jason's demeanor and I mentioned it to my wife several times and she agreed. No longer did he pay attention to any of his clients and he became hardly approachable while in the gym. I should have seen the writing on the wall then, but I didn't.
A lesson learned.

Well I just saw this scum bag and his wife pushing their strollers down Camino Caballo today (west side of Pomeroy). I was driving towards them and Jason looked right at me. I wanted to stop and ask for the 3 months pre-paid I have remaining on my membership. What nerve walking around with that smug look on your face JR. Now I know where to look for you. You have a lot of enemies. Some day you will run out of places and ways to hide.

Please report this jackass. He's a lying, cheating hypocrite. I can see that smug look on his face - it's disgusting. I can also see the scared looks on the faces of his wife and kids. I hope they get out!

I can't believe all the negativity and trash talk on this page. It sounds like a lot of sour grapes to me. It definetly sounds like someone got his feeling hurt or was embarassed in some way and is now acting like a child to get revenge and his pound of flesh. I think all of you should grow up and start acting like adults. I to belonged to Agape gym and was very pleased with Jason, the service and what he was trying to do with the gym. Remember when it was World Gym before Jason bought it and how the members who had their credit cards ripped off for thousands of dollars by the site manager. Did that happen with Jason? NO!! I gave Jason my credit card number as well as my check numbers almost three years ago and have not lost a penny to him. He has always treated me and my family with greatest respect. He has also promised to return my unused membership fees when the gym financials are settled. I'm sure they will be and if they are not it won't be because he doesn't want to, it will be because of the idiots that started these pathetic post that have put him in financial ruin so he can't return unused membership fees. If I don't get my $40 dollars big deal I'm not going to try and ruin the man's life or hurt his family. I'll blame it on these idiotic posts and my own fault for signing up for a long contract with an upstart business.
Bye the way, I have found different Jason Rice's in several states who have legal action pending and none of them pertain to the Jason Rice that lives in Nipomo. I don't believe any of the hateful things that are posted here, but I do believe that they are being posted by the same person and friends of that person just to try and make Jason look as low on the humanity scale as they are. Simply because Jason did not rip you off hardly prooves that he did not rip off any one else.
Simply because you only lost $40 dollars does not mean that other people did not loose a lot more.

Your story is also inconsistant ... Jason has not been in business in Nipomo for three years.

So unless you met him at his first gym on Allen Street in Pasadena (which is where he was in 2006) and then followed him to each of his subsequent gyms (about three in Passadena) and finally to Nipomo (to the gym he opened in March 2009) your story is a joke.

As for the lawsuits, you should actually take the time to read the ones from Los Angeles County, including the Battery charge. Each one listed does pertain to the Jason Rice that lives in Nipomo.

It is not pathetic for people to be upset and angry over getting ripped off or taken advantage of.

It is not pathetic, slanderous, or rude to warn people that a particular individual has wronged you and others. When a person has a pattern of hurting other people, the right thing to do is to warn others to stay away.

It is however pathetic, inconsiderate, and evil to attack people who have been hurt by someone who shows no consideration for how his actions harm others (and their families). Sure, Jason knows plenty about fitness ... but he does not know how to make things right where he has done wrong. Sure Jason has paid a few people back, and worked with a few people. But there is still a trail of people he has wronged and prefers to attack rather than work with.

I don't see the logic Jason. For those of us who attended the previous gym's we had a full range of equipment, regular hours, and no one pretending to be something they were not. You came in and talked about the juice bar (that never happened), pulled out (actually sold off) the existing equipment to raise cash, and brought in that old "multipurpose" equipment. You started out acting friendly, and then when it was clear we were not going to pay extra for a personal trainer, the cold shoulder.
