Office Max has a list from each school posted, as does Wal-Mart. You can find what is needed easily from those lists.

If they are not able to supply everything that is needed tI am sure there are some churches that are also helping with needed supplies this school year.

Or, cancel the internet service and just do like the rest of us do....pay for them. Wal-mart has tons of stuff for .50 -$100. I'll guarantee they spend way more than that on cigarettes, cable tv, and internet service! Or, yet again, you can just wait until school starts and let the teacher purchase the supplies out of her pocket!

How ridiculous are you? How do you know they are not using the internet on their phone? Which may be a boost mobile that they are paying $50 a month for internet and all for? And yes a phone is a necessity if their children are in school in case of an emergency with their child while at school!
Secondly, they may be at the library or another public internet access place using the computer. In fact how do you know they’re not doing job searches while on the computer, where ever that may be?

If this were someone that mooches off of the government or other social service agencies they would probably already know where to get these services along with many others... in fact many of those who mooch can give a list as long as my leg of places to get services for school supplies and similar things!

You do not know their situation and it may be a tragic on so passing judgment just makes you look like an a$$!!

Really now. Since you are such a great person of the people, how about you go over, pick her up, and take her to Wal-mart and purchase all these supplies for her? No self respecting person would get on Topix and ask for someone to shell out money to buy school supplies. How about you find out their "situation" and report back to the rest of us?$5 will get more than enough school supplies at Wal-mart, Big Lots, Dollar Den, or anywhere else in Morristown. She just wants someone else to step in and take on her responsibilities as a parent. You posted a very good fantasy post, by the way! How about she does what I have to do...go out and find enough work to pay for the supplies herself! That's what I have to do, always have! There is plenty of work, just not enough workers willing to work! And don't say there aren't jobs. Anyone can find enough odd jobs to buy school supplies! The American Work Ethic has been replaced by the welfare hand out ethic!

I just have to say to you, your right. I'm at a friends house using their internet and I'm having a very hard time this year getting my children school supplies and clothes. It hurts so bad because I don't have any family to help me. I have tried so hard to get a job and not one places will hire me because of my backguard records. When I was 20 years old I did something stupid, and yes it was my fault, but I don't think I should be able to not get a job over it. I've tried so hard to get a job so I can support my children and know one is willing to help me. I wish they where some kind of programs out there that would help people get jobs if they have done wrong there past. But there isn't. All of you ppl that would like to bash me over what I did years ago, go a head. I'm 34 now and if you ask me that isn't right for people to go back that far and look at people record for a job. I kno lots of ppl that have felon charges and they have jobs but I ca't get one. I've ask God to forgive me for what I did and I know he has. I pray to God every night for a job so I can support my children. I hope you ppl will pray for me that I will be able to get a job soon. I love my children and I wish I could give thm the world but I can't because of the choice I made years ago. But thank you lady for what you said you are right ppl sometimes don't know what is going on in others lifes. God Bless You!

Has god really forgiven you? Maybe that is why you can't get a job. He is punishing you.

If your needing a job and willing to drive to Jefferson City, The Hoagie Shop is hiring. Its a job at least, and pays the bills.

I'm willing to take anything. It doesn't matter about the pay, or what I'll be doing. I willing to take anything it's just the fact of my backguard being bad so will they still hire me. I onlt have one thing on my record and it really isn't nothing that bad.

I know that God has forgiven me. You don't know me, you don't know what I did, you don't know nothing about me. If you will go back and read over again. I only have one thing on my background, it was something I done when I was 19 but I was 20 years old when I got charged with the crime. So bash away if that makes you feel better. I know I'm not perfect and never will be BUT I do know that God has forgiven me, I do odd job on the side so I can have income to support my children but it isn't something I get to do everyday it's ever now and then so I don't get paid that much. I need a full time job working 7 days a week 8 hrs or 12 hr. a day. I wont to work, I willing to work, I'm crying out for a job. Some ppl could care less because they are lazy. But at least I'm trying. I will never give up.

Vocational Rehabilitation may be able to help you find an employer that is willing to accept your past. They work with lots of people.

Central services sometimes has school supplies.

Goodwill has half off clothes the last Friday and Saturday every month.

Good luck!

Mother of 3, I am in your same situation, minus the kids. My son is grown. I made a very stupid choice when I was 19 and it has haunted me for the rest of my life. Literally. I am also having a hard time finding work due to my background and it was 18 years ago! I thought employers only went back 7 to 10 years on background checks, wrong. I wish you luck.

Curious, do you know how many open positions they have? I'm like 10 mins. from them.

I understand. Some people just don't understand. Yes what we did was stupid and wrong but honestly, doesn't every do wrong some point in there life. Iwish you luck and I hope you can get a job. I'm sure there are alot of people in our shoes. I wish there where a program that would help people that have done wrong in there past get a job. And, if people don't try,and wont to work hen they can't never get help through the program again. God Bless, I hope you get a job soon. It's sad that people end up like this. Because they are people that do really change and that do wont help.
