I have a friend who was just denied disability. I was told there is a female lawyer who is the best here in Morristown, does anybody know who that is?

Do you have any recommendations?

WHY are so many people pushing, clawing, GRASPING to get on "disability"?

I HATE that word. It makes me SICK !!!

Oh SHUT UP !!

Don't reply back with this CRAP like "some people really need...." blah blah BLAH

OF COURSE some people "really need it...."

NOBODY'S SAYIN' THEY DON'T....so SHUT UP

The whole SICKENING POINT IS....these days, out of 1,000 people "drawin'"....only about 50 TRULY are in a no-other-option situation.

The rest really CAN work (and actually DO SO under the table)....OR...they have FAMILY who could support them, and WOULD (if they weren't gettin' "day check").

So, to make a long story SICK.....WHY is it that SO MANY PEOPLE now have NO SHAME. WHY do SO MANY have ONE goal in life...to get on "disability?"

DON'T HIRE A LAWYER!!!!!! You don't need one. They will do basically nothing: you will still fill out the papers, write the letters, get the needed information, and do all the talking on the phone, and they will collect 30%(or more) of your money for basically nothing. I've seen it happen more than once. You just need to file an appeal and follow up with whatever information SS wants.

no, he's having trouble tracking down doctors and getting old surgery information. Plus one just won't help cause they say he owes money. Lawyer can track the older doc's down and get the other to release results.

But Why, I didn't ask for your opinion. Just advice from useful people.

Disability will conduct their own investigation.. I had to go through all their hoops years ago for my handicap daughter. I'm just grateful for the health insurance because she has a pre-existing condition and our private insurance dropped her coverage. And still it's a catch 22 because TennCare sees we pay for health coverage and every couple of years they threaten to drop her as well if we can get her private coverage. Which I then have to go through the entire ordeal of placing her on the plan at the start of eligibility only to get a pre-existing denial letter from the private carrier all so I can send it to the Disability office. She's 16 and I've done this 9 times in her life span. Unfortunately she doesn't qualify for any disability money because they base it off the household income. But as I said having her insured is good enough as it covers all her medical needs. Unfortunately ramps, lifts, and other personal care items aren't covered. But I'm not complaining. Just tell your friend to really and be sure to request a complete medical review. Disability will order the documents you only need to sign a release. They will also have their doctors determine if the diagnosis is accurate or not. Best of luck to you and your friend!

I agree that the Disability thing has gotten out of control. I read an article last week ("House Investigators: Disability Judges Are Too Lax") stating that in 3 years Disability payments are going to be cut by 20% because so many people who are not disabled have gotten on Disability and overloaded the system. This means that the truly disabled are going to suffer.
