Queen D, I moved from Detroit also. I have lived here 18 years. I love this town and I did not have roots here. I left the Motor City because of Divorce and needed to get away.

But, since I have been here, I have worked everyday, I have trained many new employees for jobs they still have and used to raise their children. I am from Detroit but I did not try to bring it with me. Of course I am not trying to say you did. I agree with what you wrote, and I know all to well when a yankee comes up with a good idea how the other employees dont like to listen until they make a mistake and then blame it on me.

A long time ago I had to think about and decide two things, where I wanted to be buried and IF a war broke out betwen the states again, where would I stand. The answer to these questions, I made my home here. I personally take offense when people cut down the people here or Morristown.

I have paid my taxes, I have been a member of this community and have helps people from children to the Elderly. I have donated food and clothing and furniture and money to several of the community thrift stores several times. And I would bet there are not a whole lot of people the strive to keep my money here, in OUR town. Buy from local buisness that is held by private owners. I am not saying Lowes and Home Depot dont deserve buisnes,as they do but not at the death of a long standing home town hardware store. I felt so bad last week driving by the Wallace hardware and seeing it closed and the paring lot empty other then boxes laying on the ground. To me that was a sad site. The owners had bought that place just a few years ago. The loss of Jimmys auto, although they mostly moved to O'rileys Auto was sad as well. We need to try to keep OUR neighbors in buisness. If you have a problem, the go the extra mile to remedy it for you, try that at rite aid.

Well, I went on long enough about this. I feel very strongly about it, I am proud of who I am and where I came from but I love area I live now for almost 20 years ago. One last thing, the AutoZone that in on South Cumberland, it is a great store, and I was standing in the parking lot the day all those stores burned and yet I was saddened by the fact they bought all that land from whom ever owned it and put out the car lot that had been there for years, as one name or another. It was Misers at the time. They got moved to a side street behind AutoZone, that was a part of history. I know we have several lots and half of them look like junk yards, and the new AutoZone is a beautiful store. Well like I said. It has been a long post and I do feel strongly about OUR town.

Queen D, I was not calling you out on this, it is I just seen you was from the outskirts of Detroit and I am too. I was from a town towards Lincoln Park.

It's so true. Have you ever been to Detroit or Flint, Michigan? They really screwed that ghetto up. So, they come down here to ruin it for us. Our land is cheaper, so they sell all their big SUVs and used Cadillacs and head south with their whiney ass accents and know-it-all attitudes. God I hate yankees.
I personally am from the outskirts of Detroit. Lived there a good 20 yrs of my life. I grew up in the "ghetto", yes it is horrible and bad, only gets worse as time passes. I did NOT come down here to ruin anything. I came down simply to live my life and be happy away from all that mess and the people I used to have to be around. I refuse to even go back to visit. Once I left I haven't went back. My vehicle doesn't go north lol as my mom would say. I have family here, most of my family came from down here. I lived in KY as a kid also and in tazewell as a teenager. I call TN home. I do drive an SUV, but sold my cadillac. But did not even accuire a vehicle until I had gotten down here. I came down with clothes and nothing more. I don't have a know it all attitude. You can hate me if you want, but I'm here to stay and enjoy the rest of my life down here! Your opinion of me or where I come from will not effect me in any way.

lol @ Sheople, that's hilarious. Also, I see there are others who can see right through this little no one. He has many names, it all depends on what day of the week it is and what conversation he's in. As you can see, he's used my name in his conversation many times, yet I've only posted in this thread once. He's obsessed with me and has absolutely no life. Sad, but true.

Not at all just wondering. No need for any apology. This is just "Typical " Good Luck. There has never been a thread with Good Luck on it that she hasn't accused everyone who is in disagreement with her of being the same person.

I enjoyed the back and forth banter with you guys/gals. Hate it has to end because of one A-hole. Down to earth, common sense honesty is in short supply around here(topix). Seems the more honest you are the more you are attacked.

anyway...

Redneck is historically a derogatory slang term to refer to poor white Southern farmers in the United States.[1] It is similar in meaning to "cracker" (especially regarding Georgia and Florida), "hillbilly" (especially regarding Appalachia)[2] and "white trash".[3][4] The most common American usage, referring to the poor rural white Southerner, is probably derived from individuals having a red neck caused by working outdoors in the sun.

The term Yankee (sometimes shortened to "Yank") has a few interrelated meanings, usually referring to someone either of general United States origin or, more specifically within the States, to people originating in New England, where application of the term is largely restricted to descendants of the English settlers of the region.[1]
The meaning of "Yankee" has varied over time. In the 18th century, it referred to residents of New England descended from the original English settlers of the region (Mark Twain, in the following century, used the word in this sense in his novel, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, published in 1889). As early as the 1770s, Britons applied the term to any person from what became the United States. In the 19th century, Americans in the southern United States employed the word in reference to Americans from the northern United States (though not to recent immigrants from Europe; thus a visitor to Richmond, Virginia, in 1818 commented, "The enterprising people are mostly strangers; Scotch, Irish, and especially New England men, or Yankees, as they are called").[2]
Outside the country, "Yankee" or "Yank" is slang for anyone from the United States. It is especially popular among Britons, and may sometimes be considered offensive, though it is by no means universally used pejoratively.

We come to the south here to work your poor ass off. Do you hav a sun burn on your neck?

Maybe you should all get your mind right. Maybe understand why some of us "yankees" really moved down here instead of assuming. Maybe we have roots and family here as well, think about that ever? Take all into consideration before passing judgement. Place yourself in that same situation and see how it feels before you open your big a** mouth!
Well said! I am a proud so called Yankee as well! I am from Philadelphia and damn proud of it! I moved here to be close to family. If I didn't move here I would've never met my fiancé of 5 yrs and would've never had my two wonderful sons! I weird how things work out in life! But I also dislike the fact that so many ppl on here talk so much crap about us ppl from up north! It's very disrespectful and unnecessary!

The only thing I have ever had against any yankee is. 1) hospitality dosent exist. 2) rude and arrogant behavior seems to be a common trait. And finally if I invited you into my home you would abide by my rules and same for me in yours. So the least you could do in the south is take it easy and chill. We southerners live by the rules slow and steady. You do not have to progress 90mph in everyday life. Take this for instance. Every argument ive been in with a yankee is them bitching about me taking my time. Rude for 1 and impolite to say the least. Do unto others as you would have them do to you. Not just a bible saying but a good one to live by.

People from the north are not rude or arrogant. We just don't put up with people who talk about you behind your back.If you have something to say then there is no reason not to tell the person you have the issue with.People from the south love to gossip and get involved in other peoples business.People from south love to call the "law" for petty issues. You don't need the "law" for a disagreement. The people from the north don't have sex with you for a pill nor do they know what a "Roxi" is.On average people in this area are lazy and rasist.Mexican people are not stealing your jobs you won't lower yourself to do those jobs. Here's a thought......if you worry about yourself and stay out of peoples business it will make your life a lot easier.
