The Introduction of H.I.V. Into the UNITED STATES in the Early 1980's

I have studied this subject very intently and find the studies and theories very interesting.It fascinates me to the point that I wanted to open a discussion on the virus,its possible origin,and its entrance in the U.S. and other parts of the world.I would like very much to discuss the country of Africa,since it is primarily blamed for the conception of the virus.

well, the big theory is that it came from Africa. it crossed over to humans when Africans ate monkey meat...but... i sometimes wonder if it is a man made disease.. and the cure for it is locked away, in a safe place in Washington or a lab in Boston, Massachusetts

I agree with you,the theory is that the virus H.I.V.-1 evolved from certain Chimpanzees carrying the S.I.V. "Simian Immunodeficiency Virus".

Scientist theorize that this virus does not kill the Chimps,and they are "natural reservoirs" or where a virus originates in the first place and they carry it.At some point in time,the scientist believe that S.I.V. made the jump from chimp to human via hunters in Africa butchering and either becoming infected with the pathogen perhaps through a cut or bite,or people eating the monkeys brains,blood or meat.

Once inside a human host the virus went through certain molecular changes and changed into H.I.V.In this day,there are several variants of the original virus,mainly after passing through millions of people,viruses can change their molecular makeup somewhat,becoming more resistant to forms of treatment,such as protease inhibitor drugs to treat H.I.V.

Why has magic johnson survived for so long. No one else that I can think of has.

Later it was thought that the virus was being transmitted within the gay community bath houses,.About the same time or soon after,the virus was being spread through intravenous drug users sharing "dirty" needles.The hemophiliac community was also stricken,due to the hundreds and thousands of donors of blood and plasma,such as the "Factor VIII"-an essential blood clotting factor also known as "Anti Hemophilic Factor"-AHF from which multitudes of hemophiliacs had accepted from.This of course was before scientist and doctors knew how to identify the virus in the nations blood supply.The virus was also transmitted through blood transfusions,as it started out as a blood-borne pathogen and continued on its way to the hetrosexual community.

Proteasase inhibitors have helped a lot, but people with the AIDS in the US are still dying--last year over 10,000 people died in the US,bring ing the total to 600,000 dead Americans since 1980--Today,Blacks make up over 50% of the new AIDS cases in the US,despite being only 12.8% of the population--HIV rates in blacks are ten times higher than in Whites---AIDS started in Africa,where else? let us thank the Blacks in Africa for bringing about the worst plague to afflict mankind in 700 years

I think he may may have traveled outside the United States to seek treatment,and he may be on the protease inhibitor drugs or "protease cocktails" as they are called to suppress the virus.
He could possibly have found that magical cure,because some years back,I had heard that he HAD NOT transmitted the virus to his wife,or his child,and that doctors COULD NOT find any trace of the virus in his blood.

Perhaps if that is true,then they really do have a cure-all for the virus.I think scientist now are studying the certain chimpanzee"Pan Troglodytes-Troglodytes which carry the S.I.V.Which now is blamed for the human version of H.I.V.-1.
Scientist are trying to figure out why the Chimps carry their version of the virus,but do not succumb to it and die.Once this riddle is figured out,it could possibly render a cure.I personally believe that there already is a cure and preventive medicine to be given so no one could acquire the virus.

There also is a theory of a conspiracy in being that H.I.V. was "man made" to specifically target blacks,needle drug users and homosexual men.
This theory draws its conclusions from reports or hearsay that around the mid to late 1970's,Hepatitis B vaccines were tainted deliberately with The H.I.V-1 Virus as an added "compliment" to the regular Hep B vaccine.

This shot was then given to Africans and Homosexual Men in New York City to study the effects of the virus and its spreading rate,in which also measured the effect of jumping to Hetrosexuals was also to be studied and recorded.
The overall conclusion to this conspiracy theory was to quell an already exploding world population and to keep it in check,primarily in Africa where overpopulation and starvation was a ever increasing problem.

To support their claim of this theory,some people point to the fact that around 1976 near the Kinshasha Highway in Africa,H.I.V.-1 made its prominent presence known. starting with infections and continuing on its deadly path.Many experts and other people believe that the U.S. had summons help from other countries such as transporting some Russian and possible German Scientist to our country and having them secretly concoct the virus to specifically "target" the groups listed and such the target country of Africa.

Other experts will strongly disagree with this theory on the claims of H.I.V.-1 was already discovered in a very few individuals,but was not classified as that certain blood-borne pathogen known specifically as H.I.V.-1 as far back as the 1930's.
A man that had died in 1969 from the same "aids like" symptoms was found to have H.I.V.-1 in his blood,as it was kept and checked sometime in the future after the specific virus was found and classified as such.
Other reports indicated that the virus had been found in one or two people that had died sometime in the 1950's clearly indicating that the virus was alive and flourishing long before the 1970's.Perhaps if the reports are true then this could very well disprove the conspiracy theory that the virus was "man made" and deliberately used on the Human Race,to eradicate the "less desirables" to society as perhaps defined by those that classified them as such,and planned to eradicate them.

Perhaps it started the same way syphilis did, ya think?

I have taken a flu shot every October beginning in 2002,and so far I have been lucky enough not to get it.I also have regular blood work and always pay particular attention to all of my White and red blood cell counts.

I am a firm believer in eating more fruit and vegetables as I get older to stay healthy and feel better.
There is always a threat of a rogue virus to get us especially in the fall and Winter Months,to bring us down,and I have been there flat on my back sweating profusely and running a high temperature for about 24 hours,and then just as quickly as it approached it was gone.

I guess it just goes to show that no matter how hard you try to remain healthy,there WILL be germs and viruses out there,waiting on our warm blooded perfect host of a Human body,to invade,incubate,and break out and make us sick as a dog.

I agree completely with you,in that viruses are constantly changing as they adapt to new microbiological conditions and changes.

I remember in the 80's seeing a documentary ,and I will try to trace down the info,but it more or less stated that in the 70's that the gov. knowingly infected 100,000 gays with the virus and in turn is what contaminated the nations supply through donations and was perpetuated through transfusions.So called "Scare Tactics" in order to scare gays straight.

Yea,seems like I remember hearing about that on too.
In the mid eighties,I remember a guy coming to work and telling the rest of us guys about seeing a program on 20/20 about the U.S. was in a conspiracy with Russia.

In this report,the U.S. had brought Russian scientist over here,put them in a secretive lab facility and they concocted the H.I.V.-1 virus to administer to Homosexual men,Africans and needle drug users knowing full well the implications of such,and eventually the jump to Hetrosexuals and would most certainly start a worldwide pandemic.

Apparently there is a cure for the virus, the patent number is #5,676,977.

I think that most viruses came from animals and made the jump to humans throughout the history of mankind.

There may be some people who think that at one time or another that viruses could have possibly originated outside a warm bodied animal,such as originating from plants,dirt,water,or such as the environment.

Yes there was,one proposal was that when scientist used monkey cells for a foundation for certain vaccines,then the virus could have made the jump into the human populous then...Very interesting study material,I am fascinated with the overall theory,study,unrelenting hypothesis and determination to quell the mystery of the origination of this virus.Just look at the H1N1 Virus as here of lately,there will certainly be more and more new strains of viruses coming about in the years to come.

Thank you very much for the link,it will make for an excellent reading and study material.I think maybe I have missed one of my true callings in life as a Virologist.

Abstinence and a not engaging in unsafe sex practices will help in not proliferating the H.I.V. Virus spread.This virus is opportunistic in regards to its wide spread emergence and easily transmission growth rate among I.V. drug users,homosexual and heterosexual people.

Also in poor countries that have less education about the transmission of the virus and in countries with little or none disinfectants,or any germ,microbe,or virus killing agents that would be readily available for general public use.A hot climate also has been blamed for the climbing virus rate,since some viruses can survive longer in a somewhat warmer climate.

The virus being of a Blood borne opportunistic pathogen,is very transmissible,and the uneducated ways of transmission has related to a worldwide infection rate henceforth the pandemic.
