Take a look!
After watching this, I now regret my decision to vote for Thomas. The stained glass in the background is no accident. And the shameless plug for First Baptist Church appals me. We're screwed.

"Neuro Star", You probably don't even vote, and your attitude toward First Baptist is sick. There is nothing wrong with mentioning your Church, especially since it is a major part of most GOOD people's heritage. Danny Thomas is a fine Christian man, and your comments are so childish, it is amazing to me you have sense enough to get on TOPIX. Tell you what I'm goning to pray for you, and a change in your attitude toward any Church. The other candidates have mentioned their respective Churches often. I would much rather have a real Christian in the Mayor's office and on City Council, than anyone who feels he or she is above reproach. As for the election, grow up, show up or shut up.

I, too, vote consistently. I have already voted for this election. So, my decision and my vote are regretted. Fine Christians are about as plentiful as fine Muslims. Didn't a member of your church hire an assassin to kill his wife? Didn't another set of "fine Christians" clip for your 1.5 million. Get over yourself. We're all people. It's no about the labels, it's about the truth of the matter. And the truth of the matter is that Christians are no better than anyone else; their track record is deplorable in the agggregate, just as it the track record of the human population. Thanks for praying for me, by the way. It will result in yet another piece of evidence that God not only doesn't answer prayers, but that he simply does not exist.

Star,
You have actually made your point in favor of the existance of God. We prayed for additional votes for Mr. Thomas and he allowed you to live one more day and cast your vote for a conservative Mayor. God does answer prayer, sometimes even using non believers to accomplish his supreme will. Thank you for your vote.

You know, I used to feel the same way. Nothing is going to change how you feel unless you have a true experience with Jesus. I went to First Baptist Church when I was a kid and I never felt like I belonged there. I know a lot of people who are nice, good people who are members there and they were my friends, yet I never felt like I belonged there. I don't know what it was....and right after I got saved I stopped going to church. I really got 'into' the world and I found out how cold and cruel it could be.
I'm not trying to say bad things about First Baptist; it just wasn't the church for me.
I dont't think you should regret your vote because Mr. Thomas attends First Baptist. We're all just people trying to get through this world the best we know how. He sounds like he has some integrity and some understanding of what Morristown needs...AND he doesn't seem to be a 'city council team player.'
My vote is going for him....not for First Baptist. Don't let one thing cancel out another. Just something to think about...

"Nuero Star, Sorry for my delay in responding to your atheistic dribble, but I was working to support my family and helping a neighbor in need. Now, I know that sounds weakly and Christian to you, but the truth just seems to come out of my mouth involuntarily. So you don't believe in GOD; what a shame. There are more Muslims than Christian, but thank GOD, there are more of us than you. Every Church has its own share of backsliders, hypocrites and plain old deceivers. Yes, I am an ocassional "backslider", but it always costs me dearly. Yet, the final payday is the most costly, or the most rewading....your CHOICE. You seem intelligent, angry about Christianity, especially toward First Baptist. WHY? I've had my feelings hurt there before, but I realized, it was a person, not GOD that did that. I made the choice to stay, as did my family, and we have been blessed ever since. Nothing is easy, except denying GOD, and playing tough. You want to see "tough", try being a Christian Missionary in a Muslim country. Show me a Church in Morristown that has no sinners or hypocrites, and I will show you a VERY small Church. If you did, in fact, vote for Danny, you made the right choice, or maybe it was Devine intervention. In either case, I am truly sorry you feel the way you do toward us, and especially toward GOD. My lost friend, if you want to pick a fight with somebody, try me or Rambo, not someone as big as GOD. If you truly believe there is no GOD, and death is total and final with no hereafter, continue your Atheistic walk. If I am right, and GOD exists, I am going to Heaven, and you, my lost friend, will have HELL to pay. I am going to pray for you because your obvious intellect tells me you are worth the effort. May GOD Bless you and your family.

Look at all the discussions on this forum. Very few seem to be interested in our upcoming city election and the current direction in which Morristown is going.

Apathy and lack of concern is the norm in our city. We can see that by the small number who turn out to elect our city officials.

Our freedom is being eroded every day in this nation and on a reqular basis here in our city. How can people take it so lightly?

I wish there was a way to awaken our citizens to what is happening but the majority seems pre-occupied with every other activity and event except who holds leadership positions in our city.

We must have a change of direction if we expect to afford to continue to live in the beautiful city of Morristown, TN. Get out Tuesday and vote for change.

Vote for Danny Thomas, Charles Cook and Chris Bivens. Let's get new voices of common citizens into leadership and the "good old boys" OUT!

How about starting to think about the $546,000 in legal fees and $105,000 in penalties we the city taxpayers must now pay because of the poor sewer decisions which have been made by the current administration.

Become informed rather than just thinking. Danny Thomas, Charles Cook and Chris Bivens have no ties to special interest. You may or may not vote in Morristown but if you pay taxes here, then you can count on paying more, a lot more!

How can we afford to continue the same type decisions for another four years? We need change.

Those of us who are tired of this liberal tax and spend "good old boy" group now running our city into financial disaster are searching for votes, anywhere, from anyone, who will listen to the citizens of this community.

We cannot continue, as taxpayers, to pay for poor management such as $549,000 in legal fees and $105,000 in penalties for bad sewer decisions on the part of the current administration.

The clown in the one who will support people who continue to make decisions which throw such tax burdens back on us, the taxpayer.

People may have a problem with Mr. Brooks. Many may not agree with everything he does or even how he goes about it. Many of us, however, are looking for representatives who will vote NO at the council table and stop the liberal spending currently under way. This does not mean we are "lined up" with any bunch. Instead we are supporting a CHANGE! If Mr. Brooks votes for change, then more power to him. If we can elect council members who will vote for change, then more power to our citizens.

Let's look at what's happening and do more than think. Let's take action with our vote.

No, I do not sound like nor am I Gene Brooks or even someone well acquainted with him but when he is correct, I will support him. When he is wrong, I will tell him. Likewise, I tell the other members the same. Unfortunately, for quite some time, they have been making more WRONG votes than right ones and the majority refuses to listen to "we the people".

Let's take a conservative stand while we still can!
