The lady accused of being source of bedbugs is not. Over a year ago(perhaps 1 1/2 yrs. ago)a man who has died since had them somehow &transfered them to the lobby couches where he sat alot. When management finally found out they kept it hush-hush and THAT is why other seniors became victims.Ask Ms. Sallie how long ago it was that she was aware they were in the building and what was done at the start to inform people of the problem so they could be careful. Many of the tenants who were friends warned each other; but many people not in the "circles" or which did not speak English(there are MANY) were totally unaware & among the 1st victims. Eventually signs were put up not to sit on the lobby couch but not why...people that were known to have them initially were allowed to dine in the dining room. Bedbugs stay on mattresses mainly but some of these people sleep in their clothes and after all those months they can be on someone's clothes. It is difficult situation because you can't police people. I actually saw Ch.7 eyewitness news talking to a young guy" A---- " who had a BIG problem but nothing about him in paper. He lived on 2nd floor till housing moved him to 3rd floor several(4or5)months ago because it was a BIG problem (maybe 4 or 5) but no one made him launder his clothes. One floor of apartments were eventually exterminated every Tuesday...leaving 4 floors X 20 apts. on each floor(aprox. 80 apts) not done.So the bedbugs are playing musical chairs amongst the floors. Still some people that seldom leave their apts or have visitors managed to not get them. The blame was that the seniors were not following procedures & that's why it persisted. They are not always srong enough to leave their mattresses standing up & move all funiture away from walls. They need better management to get rid of this but the fact that there are apts that have not gotten the bugs means it can be done without evacuation. The people wait for their transport to their doctors in the lobby & since the start when the couches were seen to have them (they were thrown out eventually) BUT these critters have probably been transported to Drs. offices etc.
