Why do people insist on burning their trash or brush or whatever on dry windy days? Here is a few tips for those whom are thinking about doing this. You must stay with the fire until it is completely out, trash barrels tend to smolder for hours you must put a barrel up off the ground on cement blocks I suggest to have at least 5 feet of dirt around the peramiter of the barrel wet the ground under and around the barrel, you must place a screen on top of barrel to prevent fire ashes from blowing out. I suggest to only burn trash after it has rained or during a rainy period. Always have plenty of water hose hooked up to water in case the fire gets out of hand. When burning brush or large piles of brush always notify your local fire department so they will be aware of where and when you plan to burn. These small tips could save a life or a home or both.
