Mother, daughter arrested while being pampered

A mother-and-daughter duo face several charges after reportedly stealing a woman's wallet Tuesday and going on a shopping spree. Police caught up with the two later that day as they were soaking their feet for a pedicure. Debra Denise Quinney, 41, of 412 B Bogan St., Alexandria, and Quayondra Denise Quinney, 24, of 5216 Dauphine St., Alexandria, were both charged with six counts of unauthorized use of an access card, distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and theft of less than $300. The younger Quinney was also charged with two counts of forgery. As soon as she discovered her wallet missing, the victim began calling her credit card companies to report the cards stolen and was told by one that a transaction had been made earlier that afternoon at Hawaiian Nails, 3640 North Blvd., Alexandria. The woman drove to the nail salon and spoke to the manager who told her she remembered seeing two women walk into the store and purchase two gift certificates. She then called police. Police reviewed the video surveillance at the salon and saw the two women purchasing the cards -- $50 each. A few hours later police were alerted by management of the nail salon that the two women had returned, this time to use the gift cards they had just purchased. Officers arrived to find the two soaking their feet for a pedicure.
