The LAW says that people get a trial before sentencing, and our state does NOT have the death penalty. Under such circumstances, for the police to simply shoot them in the parking lot would be a CRIME! Many people of ANY political persuasion tend to feel that the police are not above the law.

That being said, I think that these suspects should get a FAIR trial, and, if convicted, should get the maximum sentence available.

Those two A-holes deserve nothing less than death. I can't believe the citizens of Wheaton ever let it go this far! I mean seriously an ex-con comes to small town America claiming he's arrived to "Save the Lost Souls" and everyone ate it up! He brought murderers, rapists, and druggies to town and no one has had the guts to stand up and speak their mind in fear of racism. Let me tell you, racism has NOTHING to do with it...it's all common sense. These are horrible people and this stuff won't stop until they are all run out of town and back to the gutters they crawled out of. I'm sick of people being afraid and having to lock their doors. A young child has died because Danny Barnes, a self proclaimed pastor, has brought hell to a once decent, small town. Sick, absolutely sick.

What is wrong with people? More proof there's too many who care way to much about themselves, and so little for others. These two Einsteins decided to have a peeing contest around a baby girl, and now the baby girl is dead. Hope these two he-men are proud of themselves.

It's 100% true. I grew up in Wheaton and this Danny Barnes guy came to town and has been destroying it ever since. I just watched Fox 9 news and it made him out to be a hero. He was just released from jail...again...a copule months ago. I wish the news would broadcast the things he's really doing and not just praise him for the smoke screen he's been putting up. The two men arrested in the Thursday night attack, as well as the dead girl's family, were members of Thy Kingdom Come Church in Wheaton, in western Minnesota, site of the attack, the church's pastor said.
Pastor Danny Barnes said he had given the washer and dryer to the girl's father, Claude Hawkins, but one of the men had felt the appliances should go to him.
Hawkins and at least one of the men had argued earlier Thursday in downtown Wheaton, the Traverse County Sheriff's Office said. The city is about 75 miles south of Moorhead, near the border with North and South Dakota.
Barnes was out of town at his son's cross country meet when he got a phone call about the dispute, which he said took place at a thrift store between 4:30 and 5 p.m.
"I thought they had resolved it, with discussion," Barnes said.
But it wasn't over.
Armed with the bat and a 2-by-4, David E. Collins and Darryl G. Kennedy burst into the church just before 7 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said.
They came in, swinging, through separate doors, said Barnes.
Collins, 56, who had the bat, went after Hawkins, who grabbed a chair to defend himself, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Within 30 seconds, the girl had been hit, Barnes said.
"It was the worst 30 seconds in time," he said.
The assailants probably didn't know that the girl had been hit, the pastor added, as Collins kept chasing Hawkins around the church.
But at some point, Collins and Kennedy left and a call went out to authorities.
The girl was taken to Wheaton Community Hospital and later to MeritCare in Fargo, N.D., where she died.

It is cases like this that make me question my stance on the death penalty. I am very conservative, yet anti death penalty, maybe a healthy dis-trust of government makes me this way. But, this seems pretty cut and dried, plenty of witnesses, no doubt what happened.
The fact that it happened to an innocent baby in the first stages of life tugs at me and makes me realize these mentally deficient adults took an entire lifetime and future from someone who never knew what happened. It is sickening and sad.
Maybe I should rethink my stance in certain cases. I would rather see scumbags like this never draw another breath than an innocent be aborted or have life cut short like in this case.
