Some of my son's friends told us that the police officers in our area are offering other teens to call and turn in the party with the underage drinking. I think that is great. As a parent of a 19 year old I am extremely concerned about underage drinking. My son begs and pleads with me to let him drink but the answer is ALWAYS "NO!" It's time for parents to remember that these are are kids and we should ensure that they follow the rules. They are not our friends and I think a lot of parents forget this. Be a strong parent, and they will grow up to be a strong person.
Thank you , I think your the only mother i have seen on her that agrees with both of us. These teens are out of control when it comes to partys.I think we should get a group of mothers together and go out hunting for partys and then call the police. I think it would be fun and teach these kids a lesson

i feel like the kids that are drinking are the parents fault and that is because they pay no attention to there children and dont care about what they do and to me honestly they are not very good parents and if you ask me kids like that need and old fashion butt kicking and thier parents but the law says you cant whip your kids and that has alot of whats wrong with kids today, i just thank god my teen agers are great and work and love being home with me and do things as a family i feel the same way u do maureen god bless you

My mother allowed me to drink my senior year in high school as long as she knew EXACTLY where I was and I always called her for a ride home. Most parents seem to think their kids go out to parties and get hammered and can't remember anything the next day but parties are 95% of the time just a bunch of friends hanging around having a couple drinks. I'm a junior in college now, I didn't touch one drop of alcohol my Freshman year I assume because I wasn't curious about it and didn't get the "Oh my god, I don't have to listen to my mom anymore" syndrome. If someone gets out of control at a party they are cut off and asked not to come back in the future. We have our ways of being irresponsibly-responsible. We could have meth labs in our basement and crack houses in the back woods....but we don't.

Dude in Oregon its legal for parents to let thier kids drink as long as they remain on the property and they are under parental or guardian supervision.

Why is it your business? As a teen I think it is good for parents to allow teens to drink in their homes (a safe enviornment) as long as it is not excessive binge drinking. Its better for teens to do it in a safe enviornment and trust their parents instead of sneaking around, not trustung their parents and risking their lives. I think teens will be less inclined to drink if this was allowed because it would be the norm. They would get bored. It's all apart of the forbidden fruit concept. If society made drinking "boring" and not a big deal, teens would do it less and become more mature with their decisions.

Any parent that allow there child to drink under age should be put in jail. IM making it my business because There are to many kids getting killed cause of drinking. You mother doesnt sound to good if you ask me .

yes, but dont you get the fact that if a teen gets drunk and drives and kills someone , its gonna be the parents fault. and believe me they will go to jail. MY Question is , WHY do teens think they have to get drunk? is it cool or something.? How many girls from milan are pregant or have been pregant? I know alot of parents letting teens drink at there house, and its just a matter of time before they get busted.
I guess I know who was the lamest kid in your school. As an adult who, as a teen, went to other friends houses, I was more inclined to stay where the parents allowed it rather than leave when we were sneaking around. Lame-O

And really? maybe you should read the paper more - cus a majority of these accidents are ADULTS being irresponsible and killing kids. Maybe you should go check out a MADD meeting or an AA class or two and read up before you point fingers at the youth lame ass.

as i milan high alumni i must say that the town is too small and even more boreing. There isnt much to do if you arent involved in the school sports. I cant recall anyone from my graduating class that didnt drink or smoke. Many of US sat at home with our families and a few friends and had a good time. drinking, joking, being people. while we were home my parents knew where i was, who i was with, and what i was doing. I went to a few more traditional parties. somewhere out in the middle of nowhere filled with tons of peopl that i didnt know. And everytime i did i got into trouble. It was here that i found all the drugs, promiscuity, and drunk driving. i found everything from ketamine, acid, weed, exstacy, xanax, percocet, vicodin, more and more pills (from mommy's perscription bottle), meth, heroine, i even heard of a guy that shot up kessler whisky. i have been lucky to escape the insanity without killing anyone or myself, and never going to jail. for the record, i HAVE NEVER driven drunk or intoxicated of any level. So, genius parents that want to call the law, what id better? Sending your children out to party where you have no control, or some good old fashioned PARENTAL SUPERVISION and talking honestly to your children.
