The office of sheriff is the only position left in the USA where the public gets to directly chose the direction of their county law enforcement every four years. Many people do not realize the diverse responsibilties of the office of the sheriff in WV. The sheriff is by code the chief law enforcement officer of the county. He is also in charge of collecting taxes. He is responsible to the courts by supplying bailiffs, serving civil and criminal process, transporting mental hygiene patients and often other people in custody to certain institutions. The sheriff must sit on many boards and co...mmittees, maintain a working knowledge of all laws and revisions that continue to be placed upon the office. He must prepare an annual budget for both the law enforcement and tax offices. He must keep versed in civil service law pertaining to deputy sheriffs. All of these duties require a fair, impartial, intelligent person who has a background in law enforcement and management, but more importantly a reputation for fairness and common sense and dedication to the community for which he wants to serve. I have served in a sheriff's department for 34 years. I have worked for and with many, many sheriffs and police officers in my tenure. I wholeheartedly endorse and believe Jerry Moore can and will be a credit to the citizens of Hardy County as your sheriff.

Hes had numerous complaints filed against him for stalking and harassing women as well as screwing other cops wives. This was just swept under the rug as some of you put it.

I'm kinda new to this forum but from what I've read you are a pretty big Moore supporter. I've had recent conversation with Mr. Ward who has given me some quite disturbing news. Hes told me that approximately 20 of his campaign signs have been stolen and several have been defaced. Most of them in the mathias area. I also read several comments on this forum as well. Ward also said his business cards have been stolen out of several businesses as well. As amazing as it may sound, there has been no reports of this happening to Jerry Moored signs or cards. If Moore had any class he would've came out and advised his supporters against this type of behavior, but we've heard nothing out of him. I see this as classless behavior if he condones this and it gives the impression that Moore would stoop to any level to get elected. Id appreciate your opinion.

I agree with you caper1 and Michelle Eckard. I dont think Jerry personally had anything to do with it. It does show that for some reason the criminals and low lifes are supporting Jerry Moore. I guess that's the only way they know how to show support because felons can't vote. Maybe they're afraid the sheriffs office will continue to lock up the drug dealers under Ward as well?
