They want your vote

Don't forget that there's another election in two weeks. Just about everybody is expecting low voter turnout in the race to replace the late U.S. Rep.

Whats differs between the first candidates is nothing, both sound alike. Be careful voters, the Dems ran the same type of campaign in 06 then joined Pelosi, Obey, Murtha with its far left, troop back stabbing and open borders agenda.

Anyone interested in a very different illegal immigration story and some thoughtful commentary on it should try:

I like the part where the repug served a "stint" on the board of supervisors. What terrible wording.
You serve a "stint" in the military, not on the board of supervisors.
never said that forgit served a "stint".

It will be nice to have a congressman who has actually served on the ground in Iraq and knows what it's really like over there. Forgit has my vote.

Yes, I will have to say that Robb Wittman will work hard. I am proud of him for his accomplishments. There never will be another Joan Davis that is for sure.

Boots on the ground experience, which Forgit has, beats that "I have talked to Veterans, and they said" anytime. And, about other issues? Any comment on the US paying out of pocket for the war unstead of borrowing from the Chinese ($1.5 trillion war)? or passing legislation to give earned citizenship to immigrants who helped make your house cheaper, cleaned your house, made your fast food cheaper, etc? or what about SCHIPS? or NCLB? Congress deals with the whole country, not just this %$#@ war. Besides, somebody besides me voted for the people who caused us all these problems and will leave office without solving them.

The difference, little Be Careful, is that the Reps for the last 12 years were in control of the House and Senate, and of those, six in charge of the White House. You're right we need to be careful. If Wittman is another suck-up to the party line, we know the consequences -- heavy debt, constant wars, immoral leadership, destruction of the Constitution...yes, we need to be careful!

Don't forget to mention the immoral, most likely criminals, the Clintons. I am sure you are not supporting Ms. Clinton because of your concerns.

This was a great post...boots on the ground will be a unique perspective in the current congress, but as SoSafford inferred, there's a ton of other issues we need positions on before we can make an informed decision.

This one was an excellent post, too...they do sound awfully similar on these issues, and just getting elected's only half the battle. Once you actually make it to office, you may or may not be allowed to speak out on issues as divisive as Iraq. That whole 'party unity' thing can muzzle a freshman pretty quickly.

All of a sudden you libs, who swarmed over Bill Clinton, are interested in military experience. Very, very hypocritical. I served in Desert Storm and I too got the bronze Star. That does not make me qualified to run for Congress.
